It was titled Poll of the 'Desi' population of the UK--which includes all from the sub-continent not just Indian people.
These are the largest group of migrant origin people in the UK.

A large number of these people have small businesses in the UK and would favour leave to escape EU bureaucracy, those in 'big' business are divided in opinion see links in 'apartheid' thread.
How many in what you keep calling the Desi population, I thought they were Brits,
Should we call those of Irish descent, paddy, Italians eyeties, Pollack, gippos etc.
As a percentage those you call desi, were not a significant number or influential in the vote.
How many red headed people vote remain or leave or left handed people.

I have explained to you before the word 'Desi' is a description not a negative. (Sanskrit word). There is a Desi radio station etc. in the UK.

No these people were not a significant number in the vote--I was pointing it out as an example that 'leave' voters are not 'all' xenophobic.

Yes most are now British--I have pointed out to you before that expats/migrants and their descendants do not cut themselves from their origins, however much you disaprove.

I spend more time discussing Brexit with other individuals when in India than I do when in the UK. There is a world out there EMR it extends beyond the EU.

I know, that better than most having visited, worked lived and spent time over 30 countries.
It's not about cutting oneself off but about loyalties and prejudices.

Depends on what you're prepared to defend as a legitimate means of getting one's way. For me, the Leave side very obviously overstepped boundaries and I'd have said that loud and clear even if I'd been a supporter of their ultimate aim.

I don't disagree with you on that but would contend so did the other bunch of liars. I, for one, can't defend lying to people and am disappointed that people may see it as legitimate.

I am still thinking if Remain had run an honest and positive campaign rather than Project Fear they'd have won easily - error in tactics with strategic consequences methinks.

No. No they were not.

Both ran a poor campaign, but only Leave and its adherents spewed forth an endless stream of lies and xenophobic bile calculated only to stir up people's worst instincts to the campaign's own advantage. To deny that element of Leave's work would be to close your eyes to reality. Even if I had wanted to leave the EU I would have had to vote stay so as not to lend any support or credibility to that campaign. Which I also said at the time.

I agree with pretty much everything you say on Leave!

However, I don't think Remain were wearing halos.......

Nor do I, but they don't need to be for the one to not balance out the other. They are not equals, and sitting here in the US the Leave campaign and the behaviour it provoked, quite deliberately, were an embarrassment in a way the Remain campaign never was. I had work colleagues asking what had happened to my tolerant, open-minded country

Talking project fear, have you seen the daily mail brainwashing anti-EU anti-immigration headlines ... not just for months but for years ?
I believe the last push was the ''Farage poster'' combined with the ''Bojo Bus''.

I think both sides behaved disgracefully but I have to confess how our political class behave is always likely to disappoint me as I seem to have unrealistic aspirations about honesty and integrity.
