BBC risks undermining Brexit and damaging UK with 'pessimistic and skewed' coverage, 70 MPs warn I'm sure I have mentioned this before and received biased responses. |
Re: Post EU Referendum
I love this quote (from "select" MPs, in the telegraph, no less).
They say that the corporation has failed to "break out of pre-referendum pessimism" and accept the "economic good news" the UK has enjoyed since the referendum. I mean, why would anyone have any reason to be pessimistic about Brexit? Because, well, anyone can see it's been great so far. Being "free" and all... |

Re: Post EU Referendum
There's been a theory floating around amongst the lefty academic elite that the earth orbits the sun. But anyone can see that the sun orbits the earth every day. And because time of day is dependent on the position of the sun, and it all begins with GMT, it's pretty obvious to anyone where the center of the universe is. But you know, those elite intellectual remoaner "citizens of nowhere" have their delusional theories...

Interesting map shows which countries are pulling their weight and which are letting the side down. Only the UK, the not so well off Poland and little Estonia are doing there bit. Disappointing to see some of the better off countries still not prepared to meet their obligations. So it's a target, a goal, and one which countries still have the larger part of a decade to fulfil. |

Oh, it's not an obligation, Dick. As your link makes abundantly clear, it's actually a suggestion (or target, as it's often referred to). In 2014 all of those countries that were spending less than the suggestion promised to stop cuts in defense spending, and to gradually increase spending towards the goal of 2% of GDP within a decade.
So it's a target, a goal, and one which countries still have the larger part of a decade to fulfil. |

Yes, they do quite well here, too and are appreciated for their contribution. I wonder if all the scroungy ones end up in the UK because of the double-page spreads and other adverts for them in the Daily Mail?
They have since moved to Boston USA with the Dutch company and are busy integrating and making a similar contribution to society.Hard working and generous people My YD worked for a Portuguese company briefly when she first came here and found it largely compiled of Moldavians (used to be Romania) and Romanians.. the majority of which were educated way above the average Portuguese. Hard working and ambitious Moldavians are the largest group of foreigners in Portugal being in the region of 10% of those applying for citizenship. I think the English often mistake the name of Romanians with Romany and of of course the bad connotations |

"EURO states owe the European Central Bank (ECB) a staggering €1trillion as they teeter on the verge of bankruptcy amid warnings a debt bubble is on the horizon." For the moment, those of us who live in the Eurozone will have to content ourselves with the ousting of Jeroen Dijsselbloem as Eurogroup President, seeing as he will shortly no longer be his own country's Finance Minister and will therefore be ineligible to continue in his current role, let alone seek another term, as he was planning on doing. A long overdue relief and one which can only be bettered by the removal of Schäuble from his membership of the group, which I sincerely hope will happen later this year :) |

But yeah, apart from them, Moldavians are definitely the biggest group. My hairdresser is one of them. |

Re: Post EU Referendum
On a lighter note...;)
SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon has announced plans to rebuild Hadrian’s Wall and will make England pay for it. Shortly after Theresa May said she would block any plans for another independence referendum, Sturgeon said she would go right ahead and build a wall to keep out the meddling English. “We never get the best of them coming across the border. No, it’s just the Tories and the other canvassing politicians – there are some good ones, too, I assume,” she told reporters. “That’s why I’m going to build a wall, a great wall. It’s going to be so great. “And best of all, England is going to pay for it. Yes, they are. They might say they’re not, but they will be. Yes they will.” Sturgeon’s speech has been welcomed by Scottish Nationalists who are keen to believe literally anything they’re told as long as it contains an anti-English sentiment. |
