Yes, so you've said however your other comments on here seem to suggest otherwise.

There are good ideas in various ideologies. Better to synthesize than be tribal about things.

The more petulant you get the more obvious it is just how little you know about the subject, any subject. being discussed.

UK immigration rules

All part of the non existent immigration policy.

You know, the EU's "open borders" and all. Good job the UK is leaving all that, so now they can finally impose some real border control (as they always could). Yet another reason for leaving that has nowt to do with the EU.

Me too. Hardly a "lefty". Even real "leftys" here know that. Yet I don't regard them as "enemies", and in fact, they often make some very good points worthy of consideration.

But this tribal dogmatism... Well, that's just foolish. You guys aren't the only people on this planet.

Quite. Eric's a lefty but in spite of that he makes the odd good point.

This.

The absurd division of everyone into two camps is utterly unhelpful.

Yes - it was much more relevant back in the '70s but has lost importance since then and particularly now when the country is split right down the middle and straight across party lines by Brexit.

I think Thatcherism is what helped reignite the UK left movement (and rightly so). Privatization of what should be public services has been disastrous. We can see that in the sorry state of the regional railway systems.

Thatcher killed off the unions and the left and spawned the centrist Blair.

Corbyn represents the return of the left for what it's worth - little to do with Thatcherism.
