It's not happened with Trump yet.

I hope you recover all your money. I've recovered all the smaller amounts but am still waiting on the $10,500 I spent on flights with Turkish Airlines through a travel agent. They keep saying how busy they are and they're slowly processing all refund requests but I'm getting a bit antsy.
I had similar issues with a travel agent and I just ended up getting the money recovered via the bank. I think if you wait for the companies themselves to resolve these things at the moment then you might be waiting for a long, long time.

UK failed to plan for economic impact of flu-like pandemic, says watchdog
There was an “astonishing” failure by government to plan for the economic impact of a possible flu-like pandemic, parliament’s financial watchdog has said.

MPs on the cross-party public accounts committee concluded that government schemes were drawn up “on the hoof” in mid-March by Rishi Sunak’s Treasury, weeks after the first case of coronavirus was detected in the UK. The delay risked leaving sectors of the UK economy behind, according to a report published on Thursday.
MPs questioned why there was no economic equivalent to Exercise Cygnus, the 2016 simulation of an international flu outbreak that involved 950 emergency planning officials.
That sounds like a good question. I wonder what a good answer is.
Key government ministries such as the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy [BEIS] were not made aware that Cygnus had taken place and so had little idea of the possible impact of a major outbreak, the report said.

High-end steak and chips for a tenner? Welcome to discount dining
From next week Britons will be able to treat themselves to a cut-priced meal in a McDonald’s or a Michelin-starred restaurant as some of the biggest names in food take part in the government’s discount dining scheme.
Just over 53,000 venues, ranging from big high street chains such as McDonald’s and Nando’s to celebrity haunts such as The Ivy, in London’s west end, have signed up to the “eat out to help out” scheme, which aims to get the country’s devastated hospitality industry, where 1.8 million jobs are at stake, back on its feet.
Also in the news is the idea that with the schools reopening, lots of households are going to reconnect and to help reduce transmission of the virus it could be a good idea to close the pubs again.
So on the one hand considering closing pubs while on the other actively encouraging people to go to restaurants.

I suppose you could say that one is in August and the other Septemeber but there would still be some overlap.

All these different schemes that different governments have instigated are not a million miles away from what could be termed Universal Basic Income if they were made more regularly. Perhaps the case for UBI has been strengthened.

This is scary

Berlin protests against coronavirus rules...Up to 20,000 demonstrated against restrictions, raising fears of a rise in infections
Tens of thousands of people who took to the streets of Berlin at the weekend failed to abide by hygiene and distancing rules. The demonstrators spanned a wide range of interest groups, from left to rightwing extremists, including members of the neo-Nazi NPD party and Reichsbürger or Citizens of the Reich – who reject the legitimacy of the German state – as well as followers of QAnon, the rightwing conspiracy theory group , members of the Querdenken or Lateral Thinkers movement, followers of the anti-Islam protest group Pegida, anti-vaxxers and self-declared esotericists

Germany’s infection rate has crept up in the last two weeks to a level not seen since mid-May.

So in other words, people from all different walks of life and from a huge variety of political and social belief systems came together in unity to tell their government they are tired of being treated like children. That's the sort of thing that should really grab the full attention of any government. Common people putting their differences aside to loudly state their shared problems with those in charge.

20,000 from a population of almost 84m - "That's the sort of thing that should really grab the full attention of any government".....

As a reminder "A historic moment’: 670,000 march to demand Final Say on Brexit at second biggest demo in a century"

Hmmm

The latter was a march to reverse a democratic decision. It's tantamount to a march to have an election overturned.

Ignore that 20k and their numbers will grow.

Of course, demanding a say in the final outcome is trying to "reverse a democratic decision". Presumably attemting to reverse the decisions of a democratically elected government isn't...... strange how things that you support are so much more important.

Not at all. But the problem with Brexit is that it's so divisive that if one side doesn't get their way in the final say vote then they will just want another say on it and it just becomes perpetual. No side wants to accept defeat by the other one, I think mainly because it isn't the kind of vote that will just come around again in 5 years time.

Bollocks.

What else do you want them to do? If they were smashing stuff up and acting violently towards civilians or the police then I'd agree with you but it looks like a peaceful protest to me.
