You must have been keen on her because you took her to see India.

Gender issues are compartivley new to me. I'd also say it took me being married, living with a woman day to day for me to see life through a woman's lens, even though I thought I knew, I didn't. It will be interesting to see how those being born today see the World in 20 years, issues I hadn't even considered. Maybe then, I will feel like a boomer.
Sometimes we all need a woopin'

I think you're right though, which was kind of my point. You will have started with view or opinions or said things that you might not think or say now.
The next generation will start with what you now think and progress from there.
It's no a criticism of progress, acknowledging it and trying to keep up with it is hard.
I will think differently again in 20 years to how I think now, which is different to how I thought 20 years ago. Being a product of your environment and then changing that mindset is massively difficult.

As long as we all avoid turning into a Karen then we're good.

It won't necessarily progress. Regression is always a possibility, as we have seen with the rise of right-wing populism, the election of Trump, brexit and its collateral damage. Be vigilant, grasshopper. Things that have been won can be lost.

It has its own thread but that will eventually die off and I think it worth mentioning here too, just to keep it as a relevant example.
How the domestic terror plot to kidnap Michigan's governor unravelled
“Snatch and grab, man,” Adam Fox told an FBI informant in July. “Grab the ****in’ governor. Just grab the bitch. Because at that point, we do that, dude – it’s over.”

Fox, from Michigan, is now facing a potential life sentence, along with five other men, for an elaborate plan to kidnap the state’s Democratic governor, Gretchen Whitmer, and put her on trial for “treason”, according to the FBI...
According to the affidavit, plotters twice surveilled the governor’s vacation home and discussed blowing up a bridge leading to the house and using a boat to flee with the captured Whitmer.

Wow, that is terrifying. I don't live in the US so not sure whether they are ALL right-wing news channels, I guess they must be local affiliates of one network? Whether right or left though, that is not good.

Indeed it is. Are there any channels in the US that simply report the news without bias? And as for the opinion segments, is there any channel that demonstrates strong and tolerant diversities of opinion?

Local affiliates owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group, basically like a franchise. Sinclair owns and operates their stations, and pays the national networks money to use their name, and rights to broadcast their TV shows and national news.

Sinclair owns 193 stations in 100 markets, and reaches about 40% of US households, they are one of the biggest broadcast companies in terms of how many stations they control across the US.

Most of their stations are affiliated with CBS, Fox and The CW (the CW is a 2nd tier network)

This is the wiki on the company

My wife and I watched the documentary "Uncle Tom" last night, where black conservatives have their say. Very inspirational watching, the story of people who have been fed the narrative of victims who while acknowledging they had a horrific past were able to pull themselves beyond all of that, love their country and make the most of the very many opportunities that their country extended to them. The recognition by them that they are not so-called liberals but are conservatives and the world is their oyster. In contrast to those who have been made to believe that they are perpetual victims owed reparations, and that the system is stacked against them. Very interesting and very inspirational - a very human story with circumstances, responses and results that has been replicated around the world. People who refuse to accept the "liberal" narrative that they are victims - whether that victim narrative is right or wrong, consistently do better than those who wallow in it. Still pondering over many of the things that were discussed. Would love to sit at a table with all of the people who featured in the documentary and to learn more. I think there is something in that documentary for everyone to learn.
