Kind of a first world problem, though.

It's typical Florida.

I bet the small Cuban coffee shops will be open too, because virus be damned we're still drinking our Cuban coffee.

Maybe if they were open for takeout orders only, and limited the number of customers in the store at any one time, that could be made to work I suppose.

I was in Aurora not too long ago. Excellent.

It isn't really anything special, though, and the big cars-on-a-spike thing is in Berwyn anyway.

We're on the edge of a government forced curfew (I expect one next week).
We've seen arrests in the news and big fines for not self-quarantining when confirmed as a case.
All private sector work to be done from home where possible - announced yesterday by government.
Online grocery stores flat out delivering and doing a good job it seems.
Pharmacies and Supermarkets open for business, nothing else - malls, beaches, parks, restaurants, golf courses. Everything closed.

Fingers crossed, it's been effective but only this week I'd say we've been really quiet outside. Unfortunately it means the next couple of weeks will see an increase in cases.

Lockdown has been here for over a week. So far, everybody seems to be doing what they're supposed to. Streets are mostly empty. No detectable shortages of goods in the supermarkets, and they have distancing measures implemented in all of them. Only one person per household allowed out, only for essential things (no groups of two or more, and all must maintain min 2m distance), and only 1 per car, and that person needs proof of why they are out (like a supermarket receipt, or letter of employment). Cops have been going around entertaining neighbourhoods with music and dancing in this streets. People talking to each other and playing music from their balconies.

It's eerie and a bit surreal, but not yet insufferable.

It seems to be working here in Portugal . We have had semi lockdown since march 10th and serious lock down since last Sunday.. As an ex dictatorship ( til 73) Portugal takes directives very seriously . It has been totally quiet on the streets .. not as rigid as Mallorca ..we can still go out in two's and three's.. but most do not.. eg We took our granddaughter for a walk in her pushchair .. an hours 's stroll ..in quiet neighbourhood away from the village .to give our exhausted daughter a break . we saw ( not met ..keeping that regulation distance ) about 8 people in total.,

It can never be a complete shut down. people have to eat, and put petrol in their cars to go to hospitals , and pharmacies etc. Doctors, nurses, emergency service people ,maintenance people still have to work . Virus's don't stick to the rules though. As of this morning Portugal has had no new cases and no new deaths for four days . It's hopeful. but of course there are many cases on the critical list that might not make it.
Its eerie and difficult ... but if it stops just one unnecessary death its worth it don't you think ?

It's surely not an 'essential business' and we now know that the virus carries on paper and packages.. They should abide by the lock down rules and close like everyone else

Been concerned about the 'leaf blowing ' activities for awhile for conservation reasons.. Now it 's about blowing the virus spores about from house to house .. Luckily the gardeners around us have ceased and desisted in using them. A lot of old fashioned clipping and sweeping by hand going on altho not much of that. Suspect owners have given them notice to remain away for awhile. We got a shock on Tuesday when our pool guy turned up two days early . OH met him on the steps to the pump room which is hidden below the pool. Aghhhh. Not really the distancing we would hope for. He did back up and go back to the pool area whilst we passed by at a six foot distance., me apologising profusely in my broken Portuguese . He yelled across that he would take care of our pool, as we were one of his year round clients The rest he was letting go for the duration....He's a lovely guy and I felt terrible for treating him like a leper.. ...

Managed to get an Ocado delivery yesterday but out of stock on bananas and cheap wine!!! Wiped all the items with disinfectant.

India is on 3 week total lockdown since Wednesday. (Before we left last week bought a sack of bananas for in-laws coming to the house--(not returning home to multi-case Pune)--and a bottle of wine!!)

There are great problems there for the poor who do not store food but buy on a daily basis---wage earners--street vendors etc. etc. Money is being given by Federal and State Governments but if people can't go out and no deliveries---they are bound to try to break the curfew to get food.

According to the official stats, in Portugal over the past 4 days, the number of deaths has tripled - from 14 to 43.

And the number of confirmed cases has almost doubled, from 1,600 to 2995. And the number of suspected cases has leapt from under 12,000 to over 21,000.

Those deaths are coming from the critical list Eric .. and the new totals from the previously ' suspected cases'... Its difficult to do the math when every case has the ability to infect at least 23 other people
Has your area been 'sprayed ' as well ?
