And whether the shootings are acknowledged as terrorism or not, had those numbers been the result of a bomb or truck attack, it would definitely be investigated as terrorism.

But because semi-automatic guns are legal (though many are modified with aftermarket full-auto accessories), this is just written off as a nutter with a gun.

Even if he'd only used semi-automatic weapons, there still would have been a high death toll though. Had the asshole not had access to firearms, he'd have been unable to kill and wound anywhere near that many.

I saw someone post on Facebook that they'll happily go out and buy a weapon to be able to defend themselves. I don't recall many handguns capable of hitting a target 32 floors up.....

White American men are a bigger domestic terrorist threat than Muslim foreigners

When President Donald Trump signed his since-revised executive order banning people from seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the United States, he claimed it was to protect Americans from “radical Islamic terrorists.”

“We don’t want ‘em here,” Trump told reporters at the Pentagon, where he signed the order in January.

But in the eight months since Trump took office, more Americans have been killed in attacks by white American men with no connection to Islam than by Muslim terrorists or foreigners.

Amend that ,now they say he is from Mesquite Nevada
Hadn't thought of that. Was thinking it might be schizophrenia or some collosal grudge.

Still doesn't suggest why he took 10 weapons into a hotel room, some of which must have been long rifles for distance shooting.

Maybe he just hates country music, or he figured it would be white supremacists and rednecks at the festival.

Sad thing is that there's nothing that can be done to stop these things occurring in the future. Many of the shooters are just weirdo creeps who suddenly come out of the woodwork, often loners but being a loner isn't against the law either

Are we now going to have to go through metal detectors when checking in and out of Vegas hotels?

It seems the reason police were able to locate him so quickly was the gun smoke set off the fire alarm.

I was just told by someone on a different forum that it was his god given right to own guns.
I sincerely doubt he is alone in this thought, and whilst he’s not, absolutely nothing will change. I love living in the US, but it really is ****ed up in so so many ways!

A strong belief in Faith is one such way. Accounts for many problems.

If it's tens or hundreds of thousands it could have given him a grudge against sin city. Whi knows. His choice of method suggests he was something of a coward (too far from the scene to be emotionally impacted by what was happening).

Is that your description of mental illness??
Apart from the easy access to guns--improved psychiatric health care is important.

(City hotels in India have metal detectors on doors--bags are scanned on entry and cars are also scanned in many--it is not a problem)

And it's started on FB and Twitter. I've seen more people supporting the the NRA than the rights of the unarmed victims not to be shot.

Did you remind him that when his supposed god supposedly created mankind and when the bible was written there were no guns...so how did it become a god given right. Oh and ask him for the bible passage that makes it so.
