Whatever you do, don't try to cross the channel in a small boat. We don't want that kind of person in our country.

Am I allowed to laugh at that or does it make me a bad person?

Anyway, I wouldn't do that, I'd jump in the back of a truck.

Well of course I was laughing (in a bitter, angry sort of way) at the Pritti Patels of this world and her cheerleaders who drone on endlessly about "illegals" as though a few thousand desperate people were really at the heart of our country's problems. So yes, you can laugh.

Make sure you get your picture taken as you jump in the truck, so it can be used later to talk about invasions and stuff by men standing dramatically atop the White Cliffs.

I think that was all that he understood. I keep thinking there has to have been more but no, that was it.

Nice and clear from Starmer (from The Guardian live feed). Putting this one to rest would be a good thing.

"Keir Starmer: a 'day of shame' for the Labour Party. "The EHRC’s reports are stark and leave no room for equivocation", Keir Starmer has said in his first reaction to the release of the equalities watchdog report. “I found this report hard to read and it is a day of shame for the Labour party,” the party leader has said. He’s currently speaking in a press conference, where he said he knew how hard the last few years had been for those who he said had been driven out of the Labour party. “I hear you and I promise you Labour will act,” said Starmer, who said he would ensure that the leader, or deputy leader’s office would have nothing to do with the process of complaints. In what appeared to be a reference to his predecessor - Starmer stressed the “I” - he said: “The Labour party I lead accepts this report.” “If you are antisemitic you should be nowhere near this party and we will make sure you are not.”

This is despite the report stating that there was no institutional racism under Jeremy, and also stating that when he became leader his attmepts to sort out the problems were stymied by the Labour NEC, but once he got Jennie Formby as Gen Sec then they worked very hard sorting things and removed a number of members. The one MP removed earlier by the old NEC was exonerated by the report, he already had defeated the Labour NEC in a court case which ruled his suspension was unlawful. There is a very big groundswell of opinion that the UK needs a new, genuine Socialist party, unlike the Tory lite party that Labout has become. There are petitions going to get rid of Starmer as leader, because it was said, that once he became leader Labour would have a 20 point lead in all opinion polls. Currently the worst government the UK has ever had are still ahead of Starmer's version of Labour.
