I really don't know where to put this, but today is Holocaust Remembrance Day.
Therefore, remember the Shoah and every single reason there is to speak and stand up against bigotry of all kinds.

If I understand correctly the Jewish calendar makes it float from year to year. January 27 is also correct, but Yom Ha Shoah is the remembrance day they observe in Israel.
"The commemoration was first instigated in 1951. Eight years later, in 1959, the Knesset enacted a legislation which officially recognized the observance of Yom HaShoah. The day usually falls on the 27th of Nisan – in the period between April and May on the Gregorian calendar. However, the date is sometimes shifted by a day if it coincided with the Jewish Sabbath."

In 1943 the SS wanted to pack all the Jews left in the Warsaw Ghetto off to concentration camps before the Red Army liberated the city. It was supposed to be a birthday present for Hitler, and they came in on April 19th. The Warsaw Ghetto uprising lasted almost a month, and of course the Jews lost, but the choice they made to stand and fight is what I think is worth celebrating.

Both my daughter and son in law work in admin at a Jewish school in Houston. Over the last five years we have learned a lot about Jewish history, celebrations, holidays and kosher food.
