Good people on all sides I'm sure.

Perhaps some of our BE friends will be along to tell us how it's time Black people in the US put slavery behind them.

Saw that earlier on Twitter, seems like going back to the Wild West times.

Well its obvious for elf & safety reasons they couldn't transport him on the back of one of the horses as they had no spare stetson as safety headgear required.

The police department has changed their policy and will no longer permit this. So that is a plus, hopefully it wont happen again.

"“We have immediately changed the policy to prevent the use of this technique and will review all mounted training and procedures for more appropriate methods.”

Will they stop doing it to white guys too?

I just don't understand how any police officer in any police department in any town in any state of the USA would imagine they could do this without it receiving any negative attention.

They must not read a newspaper, or pay any attention to the news at all.

You said any state. This is Texas, lots of Texans don't think they are any state. True story!
Sad but true.

I have had a 30 year love/hate relationship with Texas. I have a feeling that in the next couple of years we might permanently split! It's been really unreal a lot of the time but it's also been amazing. And then crap like this happens and my heart hurts when i see this and I am brought to tears by the horrific loss of innocent life in Santa Fe and El Paso. We are not moving forward. Times are changing for the worse.

So, yeah. It is Texas and it ain't good.

Where to put this is probably in WTF in America, in the Trailer Park board.

Mind blowing. Just ****ing unreal and the comments about whether it would happen to a white guy and what the outcry would be just go to show how deeply ingrained the issues are.

Jim Crow operated here until 1968. Sharecropping, effectively indentured serfdom, ended only in the 1940s due to mechanization. People forget how recent this history is. And yes, so deeply ingrained that people don't see the issue or even that there is one.

I also forgive people for their ignorance on the topics sometimes. If you grew up and it was normal, why should the last 40 years of change IMMEDIATELY adjust the first 40 years of your life. Is that a reasonable expectation?
No, I'm not talking of those people who want to lynch folk, I'm talking the general attitude of the population.
When my generation (I'm in my early 30's) bring through another and another, it'll be pages in history we're ashamed of without only a very extreme minority saying 'yeah but imagine if that was a white guy' etc.

You missed the point.
If they wouldve/had/do it with a white guy then theres no problem as far as i see in doing the same to a black guy.
That is to say that two cops on horses detaining a person dont have many options in restraining a suspect and a ton of stupid on reins.
Both were treated equally.

Some people search for racist connotations where tbere are none so they can be the first to virtue signal.

"Oh well have to let this theif/rapist/mugger go otherwise well look like a 17th century plantation owner".
Brilliant bit of policing.
