Anyone seen paulry since the EU elections?

I was hoping he might be back to give us a run-down of the results and identify the hidden populists.

He was licking some boots in the Trump thread yesterday. So much self-righteous indignation, it was glorious.

Paulry himself is largely harmless, but the whole subservience to authority thing is not a good trend.

Entertaining, though. When observed from a distance anyway.

Oh well, if he's being a lickspittle I suppose it's only polite to give him time to finish rather than barging in. Wouldn't want to startle anyone and have him choking on a mouthful of boot (or worse).

I've got plenty of time. Those results aren't going away anywhere.

According to some, as a result of the elections for the future populist-run EU it's more likely that those who wished for it are likely to be disappointed!

What a bummer, eh?

The current issue seems to be trying to agree on somebody, Populist or not.

It is far from clear that the transnational lists would work out as supporters expect. Some critics have cautioned that they could benefit extremists more than mainstream candidates because it would allow fringe groups that might be a minority in one country to band together.

Often is - remember Cameron making a complete tit of himself over Juncker's presidency?

He could possibly have swung it if he'd bothered to try a bit of subtlety.

Still, things are looking up this time, eh? Wresting the top job out of the vice-like grip of the EPP and delivering it into the hands of the Socialists and Democrats would be something of a triumph.

That'll fire up the populists' demands, it certainly wont diminish them.

Well they certainly won't be running the show so their demands are unlikely to be met.

What sort of things do you have in mind re "demands", anyway?

Exactly! Which will lead to anger on top of satisfaction as well as the increase in populist ranks as the EU project moves in the opposite direction to already growing popular demand. And surely you know what the populist demands are: Less EU and more nation state.

Lots of upside down thinking going on here.

Ps the word ''thinking'' to be taken with a pinch of salt.
