The heads of the EU member states agreed to the EU becoming more than a trade area, and the EU Parliament ratified it.

The UK was always independent while a member i=of the EU. We've left a Union of European countries who agreed common rules and standards, benefiting each.

I presume the next agitation will be to leave the UN, or is our Security Council seat too much of a good thing? Especially as the permanant members of the UN SC are most of the biggest arms dealers in the world.

In the EU, we were one of the three biggest fish in the EU pond, except where MEPs of a certain party failed to attend meetings to advance British interests. In the UN SC, we're one of the biggest 5. In the UN itself, 1 of over 200 member states.

Considering not even the current American administration has suggested leaving the UN, I don't think you need to worry too much about that.

Well, we've got the first stage of Brexit done, and are no longer a member of the EU. Now we move into then second stage, the transition period and negotiating our post-Brexit interaction with EU rules and regulations.

Eleven months is all the UK government and Parliament and the EU have to make and ratify our post-Brexit deal. I hope the UK does get a good deal, but given how Boris made May's bad deal a worse deal, we'll have to wait and see. Especially given the massive majority the Tories have in Parliament, making them less accountable.

I spent Brexit evening at the Royal Mint in Llantrisant. Had a special tour of the mint, followed by striking my own Brexit 50p. It was all rather interesting and very well managed.
