Default Democratic Socialism

With all of the media frothing with excitement over Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Democratic Socialism, anyone care to explain to me why I should be excited by it?
What are the good things it will bring to our society? If we adopt it here, how is it different from what befell Venezuela? Or Cuba?

You should be excited by it because if you scrape away the PC mask, she represents true face of the US Democratic Party - just the same as it is for Jeremy Corbyn and Labour. This makes both parties just that little bit more unelectable.

Better things to do, just like your Zimbabwe thread and the holocaust based on your admitted ignorance of facts and history.

Labels, perceived wisdoms. putting people in boxes. All to prove that what you believe is right and what they believe is wrong
Its so damn tiring ,
We lived in a country that might be described as having democratic socialism... The Netherlands--- I would describe it as a commercially driven country (they invented commerce) with a social conscience It worked beautifully. Especially since they now work with a coalition government. which never gives one party much more power than another.. ie you have to come to an agreement.
People have to mature and understand there is nothing wrong with having a social conscience, Showing care for the people who cannot by birth,by circumstance ,by capacity ,attain the dizzying heights of even the middle ground, let alone the top 2 % .There is everything right about the have's giving a little to the have nots. in whatever way they can
It makes for a safer society .. Proven by the Netherlands..The USA only proves the opposite.is true

Sounds good, nice and fluffy description, but socialists always get carried away with spending other peoples money. The wheels will eventually fall off the Netherlands model.

As for the USA, this guy describes pretty well what the democratic socialists are really about:

Cortez represents the people in the district that elected her. They don't need your permission or approval to choose who they think best represents their interests. Snide remarks, especially from people who don't even live in the US, much less in Cortez's district, just goes to show how terrifying that concept is to certain mindsets.

You don't believe one can talk about someone who is running for office in the USA unless they live in the candidate's district? Hmm...BTW, she's a moron.

Anybody can talk about anything, obviously. Just don't be surprised when people point out how ridiculous you sound when you're talking straight out of your ass.

Erm...... It provides an opportunity to state that; - While you attended the ceremony, you do not believe you took part.

*** SOCIALISM
You have 2 cows.
You give one to your neighbour.

as opposed to -

AMERICAN CORPORATISM
You have two cows.
You sell one, and force the other to produce the milk of four cows.
Later, you hire a consultant to report on why the cow has dropped dead.

OR

U.S. SURREALISM
You have two cows.
The Federal Government requires you to take harmonica lessons.

OK, I'll help you out.

Have a read.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the Resurgence of Democratic Socialism in America

And if you still don't like the look of it all, turn in your social security card and refuse all retirement benefits when your time comes.
