Default Dan Marsden Syndrom

Abuse of smileys

Why do people feel the need to adorn each and every post they make with smileys, preferably the same smiley over and over again?

Don’t these people realise that due to the overkill the smiley has lost every meaning? Dan Marsden was a classic example of this. His favourite was this smiley, and in the end everybody ignored that smiley, simply because it was in all of his posts. And when he really needed the intention of that smiley, its purpose was completely lost.

Now other people do this. Is there a relay race going on that I’m not aware of? FFS stop putting smileys in ALL of your posts. You are ridiculing yourself. You know who you are and I know you will read this.

There is nothing in the terms and conditions when registering on the site which forbids the overuse of smilies.
