By the way, other than the scramble for equipment and masks, etc., I am not aware of any mass unrest - looting, etc, nor any lack of supplies, food, etc.
You should come to Florida, admittedly it's a tad quieter on the roads My stepdaughter has been busy looking for a new f***buddy and only this week had a blind date and took her daughter along for a playdate with his kid, so if you bring any males with you be on the alert as she's done her utmost to work her way through the tri-county area...

Is that included in the visitor's guide?

Back from playing Russian Roulette. Blood test.

The main hospital entrance was in darkness and in sight from 100 yards. Nobody going in or out. (staff using different exit/entry) I wondered if they had restricted hours. But as I got closer and crossed the street opposite I could see inside.

It was all dimly lit and a dozen or so staff in gowns, masks, gloves. Really eerie. I had the screening - but screaming seemed more appropriate - a series of questions. The one about whether I was ever a member of the communist party threw me a bit and then I was asked if I'd ever had any of 'these' diseases.
No I have not, I said indignantly, and certainly not that one! BEers of a certain age will recognise that bit of nonsense.

I had a visitor sticker put on my jacket, washed my hands and then had to register (on paper) with a guy who I recognise as a phlebotomist who also turns his hand in as normal registration. He took my sheet and card, noted something and returned it. Off I went on the long, long walk along the corridor passing a surprisingly high number of other people for 7.45 am, not all staff. Easy to keep a distance though.

There was nobody else at the clinic itself and I was on my way back out 10 minutes later. The receptionist and the two phlebs on duty were maskless.

My Phleb asked me if I minded if she added a couple of tubes - some sort of recording purposes she said. Either that or it was for her own personal collection. She said I had a very nice vein. I think I'm on a winner there!

I was checked off as I left at the main door, presumably to make sure I wasn't roaming the hospital looking out for hand sanitizers and masks.

Given all the precautions it's a bit odd that nobody was wearing masks at the phlebotomy point.

That's what should happen to you generally........ but now that you've returned from a virus area, even more so!!

Seriously, keep yourself indoors and safe..... as well as being stateside, you've just been through major airports and stuck in a confined space with others for hours.
Think of all the hours you can spend with your Teach Yourself Economics book!

Keep Safe

Or he might even learn how to make sandwiches...

Glad everything went well And a bit of personal validation to go with it, I bet it's not every day someone tells you that you have a nice vein

No and yes

In short it's best to leave them to hospital workers and those caring for sick people at home.
That seems to be the general idea. But I heard something from Public Radio International overnight (The World) about Asian countries where it's considered almost a duty for everyone to wear them to help prevent it being passed on when you don't know you have it.
One wonders if the advice to leave them only for those who need them only comes from not having enough for everyone.

DigitalGhost...if you are moving to Ontario, this may interest you.

https://www.cp24.com/news/those-viol...rder-1.4877051

i noticed today the car parks down by the lake have been taped off, and notices posted. Also for the last 3 weeks people entering Ontario have been asked to self isolate for 14 days. I would say similar rules that are now in the UK have been in place here for approx 3 weeks.

Edit: Tory has just announced the restrictions will be in place until the end of June.

I thought this was interesting today.

Newspapers to lose £50m in online ads as firms use coronavirus 'blacklist'
Despite record numbers of people reading on-line news, advertising revenue for the newspapers is down because the advertisers have 'blacklist technology' that prevents their ads from appearing next to news items that are problematic - such as Coronavirus reports. With so much of the news being virus related, the ads are not appearing and nor is the revenue that would otherwise be there.
