CORONAVIRUS PART II

More generally, and this is now getting past just 'cell phones' to 'smart phones' - I'm seeing a disappointing trend towards 'apps' being more supported that browser sites. a few examples (not related to C-19, just giving examples) - my bank lets me make a deposit using my smartphone but not on my laptop / browser, and my bank also uses an 'app' to generate a security code, also not supported on my laptop / browser.

Wow - Tennessee does look rather grim - short 11,000 beds, 2,200 ICU beds.
Just picking these states since we are familiar with them. So what would explain the terrible numbers for TN? TN has population of circa 6.7 M; AZ has population of circa 7.1 M.
New York - peaks April 9, and shows a bed shortage of 60,000 and an ICU bed shortage of 10,000. That doesn't look good.

Arizona FINALLY issues stay at home order - https://www.azfamily.com/news/contin...59d7ab061.html
But ...
"The order took effect at 5 p.m. Tuesday, but allows a list of "essential businesses" to stay open. Those businesses include golf courses, payday lenders and hair salons. "

But lack of salons and barbers here at the moment, might lead to some new hair fashions, who knows. Glad I got one in February as its looking like haircuts wont be an option until May or June at this rate as they said today there is no chance at loosening the restrictions in April, and reading between the lines, June might be the earliest for us.
Some restaurant chains are starting up new services, one chain is doing grocery like services offering packages of meat or produce for those who want to avoid the grocery store, presumably the meat and produce is the same used on their menu. Even offering toilet paper for $1 per roll.
Example of a meat package on offer:
Protein Pack
8 oz Sirloins (4)Full Rack of Baby Back Ribs (2)
Angus Chuck Burger Patties (6)
Salmon Filets (4)

The response is varied; NY is ground-zero and obviously taking it pretty seriously, many of the 'middle states' are not taking it too seriously because they are spread out and seeing 'few cases'. California was getting praise yesterday for being somewhat ahead of the game, having been the first state to implement strict 'shelter in place' rules. I may just leave AZ and drive to CA so I can be there instead of here, if AZ continues to be loose about it. https://www.politico.com/states/cali...lation-1269663 . The biggest problem facing the US is the lack of FEDERAL leadership; individual states and governors are doing a good job mostly.

That being said, I appreciate the severity of the reporting and I'd rather we hit this nail with a sledgehammer than a flump.

Possibly, but I think it also plays to many peoples fears and causes them harm. Just like the whole Brexit issue one can see that some people's primary emotional response is fear and the never-ending stream of media hyperbole is damaging for that type of person.

It seems that the key problem with Coronavirus has been the lack of seriousness taken by both authorities and the general public. Only now has it become a focus. And yet some still feel it's being overblown by the media.
So, get Netflix if you don't want to hear it.
By the way, other than the scramble for equipment and masks, etc., I am not aware of any mass unrest - looting, etc, nor any lack of supplies, food, etc.
