Then why have certain political party politicians and the media spent years telling us that all of the UK's ills are the fault of the EU, and continue to push for a Brexit that totally removes the UK from anything EU, including the international agreements covering aviation and transport to EU countries.

but if we've learnt anything from the past it's that extremists get a foot hold when things are tough and there's a scapegoat to heap blame upon. Think of it this way, the general public don't get a choice in home politics, not really. Give them a real choice when most are right pissed off, bingo. Cameron should face a firing squad for what he's done.
Extremists get a foothold anytime they're told things that reinforce their beliefs, and parties such as UKIP and The Brexit Party, and Vote Leave tapped into those sentiments. which had been pushed by the people who benefit from Brexit the most.

Cameron was stuck between a rock and a hard place. The ERG wanted a referendum, and either Cameron offered one up or they'd have been looking for a new party leader who would do that. And Cameron wanted to keep his job. The ERG is the hardline Tory party.

Why would they need to cross on a raft, when they can enter by plane, ferry or tunnel legally?

What is a "true brexit"?

So far, it sounds more like an article of faith than anything else.

True Brexit is no longer being one of the remaining 27 member states of the EU after a specified date.

That would be a rational definition, but I have a feeling that this is not what Paulry means. Just a guess...

Anyway, for those who could use a bit of actual history as a frame for the current situation, here's a bit of actual history and the consequences which led to the current paradox.

(I know you either won't bother or will declare it all as all made up by despicable remainiacs, so, for those actually interested, it's a pretty good read, if not a bit too brutally honest).

Brexit: how the end of Britain’s empire led to rising inequality that helped Leave to victory

That is an interesting read. I'm not sure that I agree with all of it, but that doesn't matter. The facts around the demographics of the leave vote and the very plausible analysis of the motivations make for a good read.

Answering that question is about like answering "Internet: Good or bad? OK then, show some successes from the internet" (as if it's a foregone failure).
