Neither you or I have to. He just has to say what the people who choose the final two candidates want to hear, and what the Tory membership who vote for those candidates want to hear.

Once whoever the winner is becomes PM, their promises will be conveniently compromised.

One prediction that is a nailed on certainty is that most of you fannies will still be complaining about how unfair life is and how horrible we all are as human beings. Enjoy wearing your hair shirts, suckers.

If all you're going to do is act like an ass, go away.

Or you could try having at least some attempt at contributing to the actual thread topic, in which case, I look forward to your contribution.

Final two out of the gate: Amber Rudd and Gove:

Input from the 100,000 Tory pensioners in the SE, Gove 52% Rudd 48%.

Gove's first priority (OK second priority), revoke A50.

I happen to agree with you there, it's just that I don't distinguish leavers from remainers in that case.

There simply is no outcome that the collective electorate will find palatable. Leave, remain, cliff dive, brino... None of them will make the country satisfied and content, no matter what side they're on. The political chaos will continue indefinitely.

If it's leave, especially in the case of no deal, everybody will be pissed off, even leavers (although Brexit will most certainly be remainers' fault, or because the EU "kicked us out"). If it ends up that the UK decides to stay, the discontent will be less, but that won't be the end of it. The battle will just continue.

And either way, the tabloids will be incessantly telling you why you should hate it, regardless of the outcome.

England (unwittingly) opened Pandora's box. Good job we're leaving that mess (not).

That depends on what type of Brexiteer you ask this, a sensible one who puts country before himself, or a Brexitaniac who shouts ''out means out'' all day long.

Rudd is not a candidate though.

(Who the hell would want to see Brexit through? He will have become PM which is his only aim)
I predict that, if Bojo gets in, the next moment there will be a vote of no confidence and then all bets are off.

Brexit won't happen, all the country's subsequent problems will be blamed on the brexit debacle, and voting turnouts will be embarrassingly low due to democracy being exposed as non existent in Britain.

What I'd like to be able to predict is that people will vote for a change in the status quo, but they don't have the taste for it anymore . Mark Twain was absolutely right

What, exactly, does one mean by "status quo"? And why is it something that needs to be "changed"?

Because, well, from where I sit, everything changes all the time. And I suspect like Brexit, the "status quo" actually means something different to everybody.

So what "status quo" are you referring to, and how must it be "changed"? And why should everyone have to accept your definition of what that means and any consequences of changing it?
