"Zona Azul" in VRSA

Morning All,

I'm hoping that someone may know the answers to my questions, please?

Question 1: Where is the "zona azul" (parking restricted area) in Vila Real de Stº António?

Candilerías: Rechazo en Vila Real a la 'zona azul'

Question 2: Where is the "zona ora" in Ayamonte?

Thanks,
Carol

I was over there last week and they have installed meters along the front, from the Naval Ass way past the Ferry, but as of last week they were all covered up in plastic.

The zona ora in Ayamonte is the orange zone in the general area of the ferry.

Morning guesswork,

Thanks for the quick reply. The link says these meters are inoperative, and, as you've mentioned, covered in plastic. There was a public debate last month (4th July).

In Ayamonte, there are different coloured parking zones: green, orange, blue, and now gold?

Morning Luz liver,

Just seen your post, thanks. Hmm, I thought there was a "zona naranja" for people who lived in nearby apartments (ie. parking permit)?

The parking permit allows you to park in any of the zones but (as for everyone) the charges differ.

The issue, as I understand it, in VRSA is that no provision was made for residents or businesses to be able to pay less so the meters are suspended while the council figure out how to address this.

Our new Mayor (poor chap) said he was going to abolish parking charges ( that was a hostage to fortune ). Then he found the €40m hole in the accounts. Good man did not throw in the towel and resign but I think it may take some time before we see an end to them. The gold may be something to do with that, and anyway if no one patrols how would the parking be supervised in July and August?

I personally don't mind paying reasonable parking charges in towns, as long as there is a provision for the residents etc. So if these charges actually bring in net revenue (after paying parking attendants, upkeep of meters and emptying etc etc)

Having multiple zones of different colours and prices can cause confusion - unless the zones are well separated and the meters are clearly indicative of which zone/colour.

We prefer to avoid any confusion and park just outside of town often around the Ayamonte Central hotel and its just a 5 minute stroll in... and easy out. Or near the San Francisco church / Old tuna factory arches.... or even on the road from the Plaza to the bus station or the plaza there opposite the river. Plenty of little roads around these areas to find a space, and often shaded too.

Of course there is also the bus!

Jon
