Default Youth Football in Barcelona??

G'day Expats - I'm an expat teacher living in Sydney and my school have generously agreed to pay for me to visit Barcelona for 2 weeks in April to study the coaching methods of Barca at La Masia and their FCBEscola.

I was also hoping to try to hook up with some knowledgeable locals who know a thing a two about the local youth football scene, or even schools football. It would be interesting to compare the contrasting styles, or even similarities, to how the elite boys are coached compared to general youth football standards.

If anyone is involved in youth football in Barcelona, or could even suggest some of the better known local clubs, I'd be most grateful. A few suggestions for decent pubs to watch the matches in would also be a bonus!!

Cheers,

Jamie

Wow lucky you!

I am not involved with youth football in Barcelona and I doubt anyone on this site will be.

However, just to point you in the right direction, football in Spain revolves around the federated clubs, that is to say clubs that are part of the Spanish federation. Any club that plays in official competitions whether professional, semi-pro or completely amateur clubs must be federated and many of these have youth teams.

So I would look on the Spanish FA page to locate these clubs around Barcelona and then get in touch with them. Warning, Spanish or Catalan will be essential.

At a lower level many sports centres (polideportivos) in my area (Malaga) have youth leagues. And many of these have websites showing the leagues and teams involved. So you should be able to do plenty of research online and then call up the clubs you are interested in

Best of luck!
