Ya.com and Broadband

Hi

Has anyone taken up the Ya.com internet offer?

They are currently offering €9.95 a month (for 3 months) then €22.95 a month after that, for 3mb internet wifi connection.

I am currently paying €40.90 per month for telefonica's service and I have been getting cut off, from broadband, every weekend, for the last 5 weeks.

Both services are the same, i.e. free nat and local calls and 3mb broadband with wifi router. All prices are +IVA.

As I say, I have been getting no broadband access between sat and Suns every week for the last 5 weeks and the telefonica's broadband customer services are terrible to deal with.

Anyone with any knowledge on these? All info would be greatly appreciated

Cheers

I have just changed over, but not a good as deal as that. When I went to the website and entered my 'phone number the price went up. Must be an area/exchange thing! Still cheaper than Telefonica though.

As far as losing your ADSL connection goes you will still be on Telefonica lines and the reliability will be the same.

I still pay Telefonica for the line rental (17.87 euros +IVA) but the ADSL part I now pay Ya.com.

If Telefonica can only give me 1 mb tops, how can Ya give me 3mb using Telefonica lines ?

I looked into it but decided against. Ya.com is only cheaper for the three month offer. Then you go back to paying the same as Telefonica rates as you always have to pay rental of the line on top. If you are not fluent in Spanish, contact the help line on ya.com first to test them. I speak acceptable spanish but found it very hard to communicate on the phone with them, but can do so with telefonica who are more used to dealing with foreign accents.

Ya told me I would get 3mb. However, I am still getting 1mb. I rang Telefonica and they told me that until my local exchange was upgraded I would only get 1mb - from any supplier.

I rang back Ya and they said they had tried to connect me at 3mb, but at this time they could only get 1mb. They said they would put me on 3mb when they could. I wasn't happy and was going to cancel, but as they are still cheaper than Telefonica I will stay with them.

I know Telefonica are upgrading the lines, some on the forum have now got it, but my area is still waiting. I think it is a massive 3€ charge for the upgrade when it arrives, lol

When we moved here in 2003 we got 256kb over the years we have been upgraded twice to 500kb and last year 1mb.

Telefonica told me that if I stayed with them the upgrade from 1mb to 2mb would be an extra 1€ per month!!

It's interesting if you go to the Ya.com site. It advertises 9.95€ per month. If I then click on 'contratar' it asks for my phone number. The price then goes up to 29.95€ per month!! It also says 'hasta' 3mb.

I've got 500 kb .... no one else around here could guarantee getting me broadband as they said communications with Telefonica were hopeless ... so I'm stuck with them

I upgraded to 3mb about three months ago with Telefónica full blown ADSL not rural and I live in a rural area. Some of my neighbours can't even get a radio telephone! Just lucky I guess.

We struggle with half a MB too! Drives us potty. And yes, apparently it's the local exchange here in Lanzarote too.

We live in hope....

You just have to realise, that EVERYTHING is still controlled by Telefonica, and, it doesn't matter who you go with you are using Telefonica lines and exchanges, and they don't like competitors, there have been a few stories around where people who changed from Telefonica have suddenly started to get problems.
