Xativa

We understand that it is the Xativa Feria this week and that it is excellent. Never been so cannot tell you what it is like but our friends were raving about it tonight and advising us to go.

We went Friday night (at about 1 am!) - it was very lively with thousands of stalls. Don't expect a fairground - which our children were. There's just lots of stalls selling everything from wlaking sticks to sugar coated almonds.

Very recommended

We were told that they sell ceramics, baskets, rope shoes, wooden things etc which are all traditional and that it is a wonderful atmosphere.

What was it like for parking? Our friends did not say about the times to go so we have no idea of the timing of the stalls being open etc so any additional info would be a boon.

Thanks

Amazingly we parked very easily at about 4.30 and spend a very enjoyable 6 hours walking to and fro, spending a little bit of money. There were quite a few fairground rides which added to the atmosphere, loads of stalls and loads of people enjoying themselves. Great time will make sure that we go every year.

If you are around next year, Rosemary, would you remind me of this event as Xativa is on my list of places to visit.

No problem at all, you will enjoy it.

Do you mean 'around' as in alive, in Spain or on BE?

Hopefully all three!

I have read lots about the town, but never managed to get there ( a bit like the central market in Valencia!). Note to self - must make an effort to get out more. Anyhow, the feria would be a good excuse to see Xativa.

You should make a couple of visits to Xativa then as you will not see it properly if you go when the feria is on because it absolutely fills the wide main street.

Have put a note in my diary to remind me to inform you when it is on next year.

Ta very much. Similarly, when I went to the huge flea market in Lille, an annual event, I loved the city but couldnt appreciate it because of the stalls taking over the streets.
