World Cup. Groan. How not to miss a match.
Telecinco and Cuatro will only be showing a measly 24 matches on TDT.
The BBC/ITV will show all the matches but you need one of the huge Jodrell Bank dishes to receive them.
I admit to wanting to watch every match (with the possible exception of Algeria-Slovenia).
The only way I can find is through the FTA German channels Das Erste and ZDF on 19.2 Astra. Other than "get a life" has anyone got a better solution ?

If you're anywhere near the touristy Costas go to a Brit bar.
If you're anywhere near an airport, fly back home.
Other than that take up another pastime instead,.. like knitting,
Much easier on the nerves and blood pressure.

BBC Sports interactive service is available across most of Spain on an 80cm dish.
On a Sky box go to BBC News - 503
Press Red
Wait for the Menu to load up.
Type in 3001 and press select
This takes you to the BBC Sports Multiscreen service...
(on non sky / freesat boxes scan frequency 12441!)
(Its on a different satellite to the main BBC Channels and thats why it is easy to get on a small dish!)
ITV1 is also available on a small dish - on a Sky box and with a Sky viewing card - freesatfromsky (one off payment) or subscrption - scan frequency 11973!
And on that same frequency (if you have a sky hd box) you can get ITV1HD!)
So you can get all the matches via UK broadcasters on a small dish with no monthly payments - and most in HD!
I have a list of channels that are showing the 2010 World Cup, which matches the Beeb and ITV are showing and which are on Telecinco.

The Guy - Thanks you for the advice. BBCi on Astra 28.2 on the south (wide beam) for a non Sky receiver ?
If England (or Spain) get anyway near the final, I´ll probably take up knitting too

Spanish TV.
The tricky bit is not seeing every match, it's not seeing any of them

After watching Englands latest dismal performance against Japan, I've come to the conclusion that knitting must be much more exciting.

Although the beeb and itv have blocked access to the iplayers for non brit ip addresses..........there are companies who will let you use a proxy ip in the UK for a small monthly fee, which gives access to all the ctach up viewing on Brit tv and live viewing as well. You can either watch it on your pc or on your tv via a cable from the pc.

And why not to use Sopcast software to watch everything. It has over 1000 channels all over the world and you could watch all in internet. Connect 1 cable to the tv out of the computer to the TV and you will watch in big screen.

Every game is available in Spain. Just that it is on Canal Plus. Many in HD.

Canal Plus...? but... but... that's Spanish! We didn't come here to Spain to have anything to do with, um...
Actually, Canal Plus is pretty good, it has dozens of sports channels of all descriptions (not that I ever use them) and a whole host of other channels - and where something was made in English, there's a handy button. So films, docs and serials are (pretty much) all in both 'original version' and Spanish. They also have lots of good news channels (American, English, BBC, Spanish, regional, France 24 and Al Jazeera) - even if you think Sky News is the bees knees (which, Best Beloved, it ain't). Lots of music channels, kiddywink channels even channels auf deutsch, arabe, romansch and français.
They also, being Spanish, show very hard porn on late Fri, Sat and Sun (I'm just saying).
Then, there's the futbol.

Yup.
As D+ and Gol TV have UK Premiership rights for the next three years.
TVE no longer have them!
And a fair number of matches will also be available in 3D via D+!!!!!!!
Something that UK broadcasters do not have - BBC say no money for 3d tv, and ITV need to get their SD pictures sorted out, let alone their HD picturee and 3d then ITV will only do a 3d channel once half the UK population have 3d tvs!!!!!!1

Anyone expecting Spain to do well? They've got a lot of good players, and remember they won the last major tournament too. However the usual suspects - Brazil, Germany, Argentina, Holland - will be there or thereabouts. I think Portugal could surprise people, although they have the disadvantage of being in the Group of Death with Brazil and Ivory Coast (who also shouldn't be written off)
England? I'll be supporting them, but I can't see them even getting to the semis. Let's see how they perform against the USA.
