Yes, I have used those services in the past but I think you would need to be fluent in Spanish and I have no idea if this entails professional qualifications which are notoriously difficult to get accepted in Spain from other countries. Good luck.

There are several factors here.Already posted, are you fluent in Spanish? Why come to Spain with 40% youth unemployment and 20% overall unemployment? Is it really worth having any consumer goods repaired these days? More cost effective to buy new.

You might get work from the British expat community. Many prefer to deal with British tradesmen.

Yes, that was my initial reaction but I have recently called out the man for a fridge and a washing machine which were both under guarantee. But in general, I have to agree typically people buy new because it is often cheaper and easier.

Yes, and the people who sorted out your appliances would have been from a manufacturer accredited repairer, not a one man band from round the corner! If I have problems with appliances etc I always go to the manufacturers repairer.

Hi Missile

You are correct, but a lot has to do with the language barrier from both sides.

Then there is the problem with the TV engineer who got his qualifications on Easyjet while flying over Madrid. Charges €50 call out to condemn TV and makes a living doing it. New TV €300 at Carrefour, delivered and set up with 2 year guarantee.

My experience is people want things repaired, for free, they don't want to pay much at all I get offered 10€ for my trouble, I am a Canon and Brother trained service technician and cannot find work here to make the 257€ per month autonomo cost effective. Luckily my partner is working but I would suggest you need a good level of Spanish so you are not tied to the Expats.

Thanks every one for your replies. Not looking good then, especially the language part, although it would be more the expat community that I would have been hoping for.
Manufacturers now consider 5-6 years life cycle for modern sets as opposed to 15+ for the older Crt types.
