Will I need to speak Spanish

I will be coming to Javea for three months starting in January with my caravan. I have learned French well enough to get by with but have never spoken any Spanish .

Do you think I will need to learn some Spanish before I set off .

You could however do with learning some of the basics

As Mitzyboy says, English is widely spoken in tourist areas like Javea, but a little Spanish goes a long way ;) Menus, etc., are usually in English and Spanish for example, supermarkets you just help yourself and pay at the checkout like in the UK.

You may need to ask for help or directions as you travel through Spain - so get yourself a good phrase book just in case.

Thanks folks I think it is good manners to try and speak the language so I will have a go at it.

I have never been to Spain before and all the pictures I have seen I don't see much green am I just looking at the wrong pictures or is it all like that. And just wondering what to expect in Javea after reading the thread about the storms .

All I can see from my balcony are large areas of Orange trees which are very green at the moment.

No matter whichcountry you visit, it is omly polite and reasonable o be abole to say at the very least Please and Thank You in the local language, also know the words for Yes and No. A simple phrase book can help you if you use it sensibly, and a small pocket dictionary is invaluable.

Well according to some people, you don't need to learn Spanish at all, and you too can have your own house, lots of "stuff", a beautiful wife/husband, and everything your heart desires......

That guy may not have been able to talk Spanish, but he could certainly talk bollocks.
