No hacking, intricate spywork or hi tech required.
Believe me, if people realised how easy it was to monitor stuff on the internet (including bank transactions etc) they'd never use the web again for certain things.

Best democracy? I don't know. The absence of a national health service and so on is great when you are healthy, but not so funny if you aren't. I had an american friend that were it not for his military links would simply not have been able to afford health treatment for his problems, and so it goes.

They are also a tad right wing for my tastes. Obama, well, at least he isn't Bush. Hell, we used to think Reagan was dumb, but bush made reagan look like Einstein on a good day.
I quite liked Clinton, a southern charmer who helped to bring peace to Northern Ireland. He got away with the cigar and I admired him for it, imagine wanting to impeach a president for misusing a cigar? Or did he misuse it? I quite admire his missus too, she swallowed his obvious failings and is now the second most powerful person in the world, obviously advised on a nightly basis by the cigar man.

Maybe we’re too serious in the UK. We don’t have a democracy as such, we live in a Monarchy, however benign it may be. I’m happy with it, as long as the obvious misfits are sidelined.

As for Reagan and Schwarzenegger, they’re part of a democracy that makes me smile, how could that happen? One forgot who he was and the other is an exterminator with a German accent.

And if that Sarah Palin gets in, I’m going to bury my head in the sand and never take it out again.

Yes, but just think, what would we do for a laugh without our good friends across the pond ? I mean quality stand-ups are in short supply these days.

Hillary Clinton desperately kissing arse on TV tonight to try and take the sting out of the things the yanks said about us, and the way they take us for granted and quite calculatedly jerk us about.

**** them and the pig they rode in on.

If you visit the guy who is banged up in solitary confinement in Wandsworth prison for 23 hours a day, you will need take your hat off to get into his cell.

The court granted him bail, but the Swedish government appealed and kept him locked up.

What he exposed to the world is extremely illuminating, and he managed to upset just about all of it. I don’t know the rights or wrongs of it, but he is now banged up and will probably find his way to the US, via Sweden, to be locked up for the rest of his life.

I find that it leaves a sour taste, something isn’t right – the man might be an arsehole and a thorn on everyone’s side – but he’s still a man, a free man if we believe in western values.

If you think too strongly about justice, and I’ve tried to, I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s for the birds.

Well maybe you're right, but he may have inadvertantly put our security at risk. Or perhaps the folks in charge figured that sooner or later he would, if given free rein. I admit it doesn't look good, but I wouldn't like to wake up to accidental (or intential) mushroom clouds either.

Or maybe they worry that he will expose who the real trouble makers are?

He may even uncover some false flag operations.... who knows, lets wait and see.

Yeah, but let's be blunt. The majority of people don't care, or belong to the mindset of 'My country right or wrong.'

Personally I wouldn't be a bit surprised that the sex offender stuff is just dirt designed to smear the guy in the hope that it will prevent people from taking him seriously.

In one sense it's maybe good for Joe Public to be able to get a look at the innner thoughts and workings of the powers that be.
On the other hand it's not such a good thing, if the risk to the countries security is increased.

It is very worrying how easily and simply all this information was obtained.

However it's very much a sign of the times, with virtually everyones private business now easily obtainable, via lost or easily accessed files and discs, which can easily be traded amongst numerous companies and other parties with vested interests and aims, not all of which are entirely lawful or well meaning.

The age of the computer is increasingly proving to expose numerous types of basic security weaknesses, which can easily expose any or all of us, as a nation or individually, to a huge variety of threats from many directions.

Nope. Sorry but that's not the point. Genuine security problems have to remain hidde. However, this is used as a blanket to protect dishonest and incompetent politicos.

Remember under the system we have, it took 30 years after his death for the brand of tobacco the king of england smoked. How the hell is that justified?

Odd it came up at the last leaks then died down and has come up again after these leaks don't you think?

He has upset the US who usually get what they want around the world one way or another.

I think he's a very brave man taking them on...Silly but brave.
