Default wifi connectivity

This may seem a sill question but it is really bugging me.

Where the wifi is unprotected I just connect automatically & work along merrily without interruption.

However if I go to the libary & connect I have to reboot a few times to be allowed access. It says available without password & everyone is working away. Except me! the staff confirm no problem & say just reboot, so I do. Normally once is enough, the diagnosis tool on my pc just resets something & that is normally sufficient. (its a new Dell Inspiron if that helps).

This morning I tried 3x at the library without success & it is driving me mad.

Please can anyone explain in simple language what I can do.

Cheers all

Should be no need to reboot, just click on your internet icon and open your list of possible connections, and connect to the library one.
Remember not to use any bank stuff on an unsecured connection though.

if that doesnt work, try right clicking the 2 screens in the bottom right corner of the toolbar and selecting diagnose and repair. then try reconnecting

thanks for the response & sadly that is exactly what I do, the laptop diagnosis resets something & then sometimes I can get access.

I suspect it is something to do with my firewall.

So what is it you do? Do you reboot or do you try and repair the network connection?

It's important to know so that we can try and assist

Thanks - well now I am in the libarary where all attempts yesterday failed & today I just log straight in! The wifi was looking for a signal but it just got stuck on 'identying user' yesterday - staff here assure me it is unprotected & no password needed.

The pc diagnosis helps but it just resets something, sometimes that works other times not.

I feel a trip to a laptop specialist I know coming on, but today it works fine so he will think I am going mad.

Thanks for suggestions anyway.

I am not too genned up on it but i know they do have their own lives
Mine goes on no poblem at home, but my wifes logs on then goes off and logs onto a pay site that only has about 10% signal
Yesterday we took all the settings out, rebooted and put it all in again and touch wood she has stayed online with no problems as yet.
