You've forgotten how to bugger then Matt?
Can't give any advice on that I'm afraid....bit of a grey area to me.

As for some of the dumb comments here's my take:
Firstly I've never expressed a dislike for the English or any other nationality for that matter. After all, I'm one of the few people anywhere who stands up for the rights of Roma when others just wade in with stereotypical generalisations. So check my posts in the past and you'll see that I'm one of the most accepting people you're going to find.
Secondly, my story was reported without comment. If that's how others generally see the English that's not my problem.
Thirdly.....and here's the killer! Think back over the years to how many Irish jokes you've heard....and probably told. Usually involving stupidity. Hundreds! How did those Irish people feel? They probably laugh....at you!
Think of the Welsh stereotypes and jokes that you still hear....usually involving sheep. How do we feel? We laugh....at you! Laughing at the stereotypes helps to devalue the intent of the message.
The problem you guys have is that you're not used to taking it....we are, and we have no problem with it.
When we pass a comment we're a Welshman with a chip on our shoulder.....when you pass a comment it's a good belly laugh.
We're all equal....the rules work both ways. So you need to approach life in the open minded way that we do.

[QUOTE=leighbloke;5405292]These problems could all be eradicated by Brussells phasing out all languages except for English - might take a few years for the full transition - but on the whole Europe would be a far better place, would vastly improve the single market and increase trade with the rest of the World.

No , I just like this thread , for it's comic content !

You make too much of it as usual Pete :) ..... as you know I'm part welsh myself. You do your fair share of p!ss taking on here yourself and have often been detrimental to the English ...... so high, horse and get off are the words that come to mind right now :D.

I really dont think people abroad as I already said distinguish in general between Welsh & English. Nor do I generally state your comments are dumb, as they are your opinions. What the Irish have to do with this I'm not sure :D

And before the "wind up works" comments come forth from certain quarters, I'm not ...... in fact Welsh, Irish, English, Scottish .... it makes absolutely no difference to me:)

Hi Mitzy
Did not mean to offend, or suggest I hate the English. We have a gang coming to our house to watch the match on Saturday in fact.
But in my opinion, the French and Spanish DO distinguish between the English and Welsh, Scots and Irish.
For example I asked my Spanish solicitor for an opinion on what to name my house in Spain, he said the name I had chosen, was good because it would show I was not English!
I can only speak from experience, but I too see the change in people's attitude when they realise that I am not English. It does not mean I agree with this attitude.
Regards,
Leighton

As usual you misinterpreted Jon! And you've helped to prove my point. :)
Let me explain: I have no problem (and I'm sure Leighton doesn't either) with Welsh jokes. Bring 'em on.....we'll take the lot....and if they're good we'll laugh at them ourselves. Because we're able to laugh at ourselves.
A brilliant example of taking a pop at the Welsh stereotype was the Broadband ad on telly....Tiscali I think it was. Which showed some toothless woolyback inbred in a sheep pen saying how cheap it was. Absolutely superb....we pissed ourselves laughing at that....cos it was good, and it was original.
So as I said....bring on the gags....just try to make them original and remotely humorous.
Here's an image for you to get in your mind.....ever been at a party where you got lumbered with some boring bastard repeating himself over and over again....with the same jokes and same situations he's recounted hundreds of times before?
Well that's you lot that is!
Get a new script, get a better delivery.....and make it interesting or amusing!
I don't think any of you will be able to come up with the goods....but you can try and prove me wrong!
The floor's open....your mission, should you choose to accept it, is a new generation of Welsh gags!

Hi JDRl,

Only three teams in the world cup ended up with a nil score England was 1 of them. But yes they are still in it, unlike Wales New Zealand Australia etc..

Just to show you that we can laugh at ourselves.

"Osama Bin Laden has just sent a new TV message to prove he is still alive. He said "the Welsh rugby team were Fxxking shit on Saturday"
British intelligence have dismissed it saying "it could have been recorded at any time in the last 4 years"
:D:D

Also the Welsh football team jdr....and yes we do have one! Full of well known pillars of the Welsh community like Vinnie Jones.

The last time we got to the World Cup Finals was 1958 in Sweden....and we got destoyed singlehandedly by one man....Pele. In those days he was only 17.....now he's advertising bloody Viagara FFS.

You want to know some Welsh twats?
Max Boyce for one!
Anthony Hopkins for another....he renounced his Welsh status to be a Yank. There's an asskicking coming his way if he goes to Port Talbot.
Ron Davies....the Welsh secretary caught up to no good with another bloke on Clapham Common.
Any more? No....not me!

I guess you must always be right Pete ....... If I misunderstand you though, you cant be making yourself clear, for strangely I am very good at fully understanding what people are saying to me:)

And all this from me saying that you are British, get used to it! I dont remember me making any reference to Welsh gags

Anyways, I'm moving on

Welsh people exist? I thought they were a a myth, like the bogieman. Told to naughty children, etc.
