IT engineer Chris Welding, jumped into action after a spider frightened his wife Janine yesterday evening, and chased the spider into their bathroom.

Wielding a flammable aerosol can, he sprayed the spider as it cowered behind the toilet pan - then lit a cigarette lighter to see if he had killed it.

However it blew off the loft door and toilet seat and severely burnt him.

So much for paper qualifications.

PS maybe he will move to Spain, wonder if he will buy or rent.

Nice one Jim, a good start to the day.:rofl:

As for your question on buying or renting, I think he will buy at 2005 prices.;)

But you are right about the paper qualifications, sometimes the holders of these remarkable sounding degrees and such, dont have 2 brain cells to rub together in the real world.

I saw a great scene on a Ryan flight recently, a couple had to put their hand luggage in the rack before boarding.

I heard the following argument after the husband had to check in the case because it would not fit in the rack, as the couple were sitting behind me on the plane.

She. They must have made the racks smaller coz your. case always fits it, I always use it myself.

Him. Well it didnt, it was because the wheels arent flush with the case.

Her. Then, they have never been flush and always fitted in before. I always pull the case out by the wheels,

Him How?

Her. After I have put the case in upside down, I have nothing esle to hold onto so I pull it out using the wheels.

Him. I did not put the case in upside down.

Her Why F**king not? you mean you tried to put it in wheels first, the widest part? you have F***ing degrees coming out of your ears, finance, business you name it, and you just cost us money, coz you did not have the F***ing brain to put the case in upside down. A***ole.

Him Oh yeah, I never thought of that

Her, Well if dare ask for something to eat and drink on the f****ing flight, I will twat you one...........

The joys of being a young professional:rofl::frown:

Rubbish

Have a look to see how many CEOs of the FTSE 500 companies have degrees.
Have a look to how many of the world's leaders have degrees

I think you'll find over 90% will have a degree.

There is a good networking tool for business people called LinkedIn. Have a look at some job titles and then click to see their educational experience. You will find those without degrees are the exception, almost everyone has them.

For most of the time they did. It's only recently they haven't and its gone down hill since. After all Leonardo da Vinci only claimed he was an engineer - now everybody does.

What if someone pays 3 months rent up front only to find they hate the area on day one? Nobody has to rent in the winter to test the temperature because this information is freely available too.

There is so much now that can be done from an armchair be it internet, magazines or books and a month or two touring different location staying at hotels or guest houses.

I never said you should just go and rent for 3 months to start. Of course you should do your homework as we have.

As for the weather, sorry you cannot experience it from an armchair. My point was that it is best to actually experience the colder months in the region you are eventually going to live in before you make the move.

On the basis of what you are saying it is best to buy rather than do an initial longish rent. Do not understand the logic as when you buy now you are suck with probably a year trying to get rid of a property if you find it is not to your liking.

As to the proposition that several months touring staying in hotels or guesthouses surely that is only step one to be followed by a longer stay in the area you think suits you and I believe making at least three visits at different times of the year. The trouble with just visiting in the summer is that many just don't think about what happens in winter.

People do buy on golf resorts (I would not). I was just recounting our experience of what desolate places they can become in the winter months.

If you can find me many places in England with the type of mountain urbanisations they have in Spain I will be surprised. Particularly with a sheer drop within inches of your wheels.

My original post was simply expressing my view having spent quite some time since 2007 looking for the best location for my wife and I. We have stayed near Cadiz, inland and at several locations from Gandia to Denia both on the coast and inland. I am not talking about one or two visits - you know homework.

As far as the internet is concerned, as a source of information it contains far too many subjective views to be relied upon - read what is said but beware of relying upon anything. Nothing wrong with seeing what is out there but see the internet for what it is.

Yep plenty of spam emails selling degree`s and honary ones are worth about the same , have a look at
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/new...cle2017474.ece

Cman should remember the line "the majority took vocational training, such as workplace apprenticeships, rather than university degrees. "
