Why Benidorm?
It is noticeable that many of our new members are asking about living in Benidorm so I want to ask them what has attracted them to this particular place and area. Pure curiosity nothing more and nothing less.

May be distorted: Bargain-Loving Brits In The Sun - Channel 5
"The series aims to portray Benidorm in a positive but realistic light and could be a good learning curve for anyone thinking of doing the same". The series helps promote Benidorm and I do believe that the following might be true:"The number of British households falling below minimum living standards has more than doubled in the past 30 years". Because Benidorm is so cheap, it's probably the first holiday destination people think of and even affordable for people on benefits etc. |
Re: Why Benidorm?
We moved to Benidorm about a year and half ago after planning to live here for years. We certainly were not swayed by any daft tv programme (does anyone really get brainwashed by it?) So.......We decided on Benidorm because it such a lively place, if you want it!. We live on the outskirts but if we want entertainment we can wander into "Club land" and have an hour or so being entertained by a band or comedian for hardly any extra cost. And believe me, some of the entertainers are very good. In the same vein, you don't need to go far for some excellent Spanish or Italian restaurants and more subtle entertainment. Not everything is sordid like some try to portray Benidorm. My sister lives at Villamartin and I consider that area including Torrevieja to be far worse than here.
There are also some good expat bars. We use a local bar and are welcomed every time we go there. They often put on a buffet for birthdays etc. We can sit on our balcony into late evening and often have quiet evenings. There are also many good walks to be had especially along the prom. Life here in Benidorm is what you make it. We wouldn't go back to wet, windy and expensive uk. Love it Steve |
