Why is it that the spanish forum is more fun ;) we have been living in france for four years we are now wishing that we had moved to spain and are plaining a trip down to seek out a little finca with some olive trees with the aim of making it our home for life. We are less than 40 kms from the border but the french as we all know are plain mad and well to be quite honest the english people here well how does one say it But keeping up with the jones`s comes to mind and of course because we have not built our olympic sized swimming pool we dont fit in. and we are not wearing french connection stuff with welli boots on.:ohmy: :ohmy: I for one think its a good thing that these people get caught half way to spain.:blink:

I think that you will find that there are groups of people just like them in every country so do not presume that they all live in the area that you are in now.

wouldn't there be more posts in the french forum and more people logged on then. because of the law of averages. and i have no doubt that they are in every country so this time we will choose wisely. But would it not be better to live a more meaningful life. Everyone has a good side and something to offer its finding it that can be tricky.

I think in general the ExPats who go to Spain are better humoured people , and my experience of the French is that they dont like us Brits ?

I did have France on my list of possible places did a trip over there on like a fact finding mission and nearly every French person i met was miserable as sin :confused:

I found that in restaurants and places i was getting the impression they didnt want us there , and made it evident ? ie; always last to be served at the bar ? always took longer with our food than the French people sitting on a table near us who ordered`after ??

The towns to me still looked like the War was still on ! Most the houses looked like there falling down or just about to !!

In short wasnt impressed in the slightest :)

Now armed with that information i would hazard a guess , and say that any Brit who put up with that ? would shortly end up becoming a recluse and end up like them . So maybe thats why you have noticed there not so good as us Spanish lot ..

Yes, I know the exact 'type' you mean! I don't know, I can't speak for everyone, but I get the impression you get a mix of people who like Spain, and that makes life more interesting and fun. It might be more prone the area you were in.

I know that my family are really snobby about me wanting to buy in Spain (you can almost see disgust if you look hard enough, but its about snobbery). But you only have one life and that is where I want to be.

I would pick your area well though. Come visit out of Season (so you arent confusing tourists for people who live in Spain) and try out several areas, having researched them well on the net.
