where would you recomend?
hi would love to move to spain.
me and the o.h are planning to do it in about a years time.learning spanish.
i,m a maintenance electrician with pool management qualifications and thought can use this to get work.
where is in your opinion the best place to be?
this would take into consideration cost of houses, number of ex pats, availability of work ,quality of life and anything else you want to add.
would have approx £120,000 to buy with.

House prices are OK, but as like everywhere else just now, its a buyers market.

Problem with "rich areas" is that there is usually an oversupply of workers of all trades.

Institute of Sport and Recreation Management run a course. 3 days residential and a manual to study. work on 1500 word assignment which is independently marked. you are then put on a register. dont suppose its any use in spain but will have certificate to wave around!! also work as maintenance spark at health club so maintain the swimming pool and 2 spa,s.

We are in Ayamonte and have been there for a year. It certainly is not commercialised, but there is quite a large ex-pat community and is growing. It still is and I think will remain very Spanish. We have a bit of a nightmare sourcing reliable Electricians, handymen etc. And I have been trying to source Pool Maintenance for my friend Villa. There are not many pools in Ayamonte but plenty in surrounding areas.

IMO the gold rush is over. It will be little use going where the poor people live, in duplexes or with community pools. No, you needs lots of villas, owned by people with money. Try Montgo, Calpe, Denia area. Lots of established, bought and paid for villas with absent owners. The second part of the equation is for you to live cheaply. Flats in towns start at 60,000 euros. A really nice one need not cost more than 150,000 euros. You will have to be legal. Zapatero just recalled his government to deal with the economic crisis. It might not be the official line but I cannot imagine the guardia being too lenient with some black economy worker with his illegal UK plated Transit when his brother in law is out of work. Other members will be able to suggest similarly rich areas.

That must make us very poor indeed,we pay 800€ a month for our appartment and community pool....and there`s only the wife working..

Sorry folks. On rereading my post I am mortified. Please accept my apologies.
Hopefully this is better:
