We have advisors for investments. We have horticulturists who will advise us on what to plant. We have beauticians who will make us look more beautiful. And yet here, including me, we have faceless people advising somebody to spend upwards of £200,000.00. Worse again the OP is taking our free advice on board and could find herself on an island in the Atlantic growing onions and carrots.
Spend a few bob. Rent a place off season in wherever appeals to you and after about five weeks you'll know if Spain is for you.

We've lived in a mobile home near the coast, a house in the Campo and now in a lovely apartment on a golf complex. All over a 20 year period.
We now have privacy if we want it (top floor, corner apartment, overlooking the 12th green) but people to meet up with if we want to walk to the bars and restaurants on site.
We still can't believe that we would ever have chosen to live here, but times and priorities change and, so far, we've not found anything not to like.
