Default where to buy currants

Can anybody tell me where I can buy currants ? I've tried all the usual supermarkets and can find more or less every other dried fruits but not currants, I need them to make Eccles Cakes and only currants seem to work.
I managed to get them in Iceland stores but I live a long way from the closest . Dunns used to sell them but not any more...
Anybody seen them in any of the Spanish supermarkets ?

Thanks

You could try in El Corte Ingles food dept. Also Carrefour cater for "foreign" foods, especially down south.
The general word is 'pasas' in Spanish:
Raisins are 'pasas de uva'
Sultanas are 'pasas de Esmirna/sultana'
Currants are 'pasas de Corinto'

I haven't been to one of their Spanish shops but Holland And Barretts have just opened in Granada. I believe they also have a shop in Fuengirola. Might be worth a try if you are visiting either location.

Maybe that's why I can't find them - the word I found for currants was 'grosellas', but 'pasas' seems to cover everything. The pasas that I can get are raisins or sultanas, definitely not currants. Aldi, Lidl, Carrefour, Mercadona, Corte Ingles et al all give me the same sort of look I get when I ask for parsnips or turnips - one of utter disbelief - perhaps it's my accent!

Grosellas refer to goosberries; parsnips (chirribia) & turnips (nabos) are rare here in the north, but I've seen them on sale in street markets on the costas, perhaps for the non-Spanish customers. I'm lucky enough to have an allotment, so grow my own.
I'm sure it's not your accent.

Your local street market is usually a good source for dry fruit & nuts, I find they have a much better choice than the shops.
