hey, all the time i have been in Spain, I always enjoy watching the TV shows, even if i dont quite know what theyre going on about exactly, but my favourite is the Spanish version of Life on Mars, called "La chica de ayer" (Also a famous song).

Do you prefer or at least like SOME spanish TV and if so, what shows are your favourite?????

here is a link to my fave, what is yours?

I wish to goodness I could contribute to this thread because I believe Spanish tv would enrich my improvement of Spanish language & understanding of Spanish day to day news/politics etc & help my 7 yr old keep in touch with 7 year old type things BUT (big but!) I can't get Spanish tv so I'll try to remember this thread if & when we ever find a 20m high aerial or move!!!!

Phew, offside.

Aside from occasional treats like this one, I don't have many favourites. I like El Intermedio and I hope there'll be another season of Pelotas. Versión Española if you're in on Friday evenings sometimes shows good films.

I haven't got hooked on many spanish serials/sitcoms though, it's the format of 2hour shows too late for a school night that stops me.

hmm.........interesting.

even when on holiday previously, I always enjoyed Spanish TV, even thought i didnt have much of a clue what they were going on about! A good way to pick up some Spanish words. The cookery programmes i believe are very popular in Spain too?

Do any British expats watch Spanish TV or am I just weird?!

I like the chat shows

Tal cual & Salvame - absolute rubbish but at least I know who all the D list celebs are & who they're bonking

I especially like all the word quiz shows - La Ruleta de la Suerte - the kids reckon I should go on it cos I always get the phrase before the contestants!

Password on Cuatro & Pasapalabra on Antena 3

I don't like Saber Y Ganar though

El Hormiguero

Yo soy Bea when I remember

I don't have any choice...I'm not allowed to have sky TV.

Spanish TV is quite crap really...very unprofessionally put together. They never show you the credits at the end of films/programmes...they cut to (20 minute) commercial breaks right in the middle of a sentence...they don't show TV series in sequential order...and certain programmes go on for an eternity, like 3 hours or something. It bores you to tears. It's quite hard to tolerate having seen how TV should be done.

The only programmes I can tolerate would be Pasapalabra...I think Cristian is a very good presenter. I quite like wheel of fortune but it is one of those that goes on for an eternity and I have never managed to sit down long enough to see it from beginning to end. The news isn't bad. I'm struggling now. Ummm. Nope, that's it.

oh yeah................the ad breaks

wheel of fortune has 2x15 minute breaks - and stops right in the middle of a sentence - I think it goes on for about 2 hours - I never seem to watch the whole thing, either!

nothing ever starts on time - pasapalabra is supposed to start at 8pm - never starts before 10 past...............

We like Dos Hombres y Medio - Amercan, dubbed - but it never seems to start at the same time & then they put the lottery right in the middle of it

and films are sometimes scheduled to last 3 or 4 hours - bet you can guess why

I like Fuengirola TV in short bursts, it is all about the local council news and sometimes quite interesting. How they are spending all my tax money on all the pedestrian walkways and new roadworks etc so the tourists have a better holiday.
I have to say though they are vastly improving the area. ;-))

I'm not a big tv person - now I'm back in the UK I don't watch a lot (unless it's QI or Mock the Week on Dave) as too much today is telebasura - either "reality" shows or soaps. Even the Beeb seems to have capitulated to these genres. However in Spain the two shows I enjoyed watching were Cuentame como paso ( genuine entertaining drama, and a great chance to see how things were in the 60s/70s in Spain) and Metro a Metro (I don't know if I've even got the title right - it was a quiz program based on Madrid metro station stops). Oh, I also enjoyed watching Espana en directo occasionally - you'd get a chance to visit loads of different corners of Spain and watch local traditions, fiestas, gastronomy etc.
