Re: What are you going to do during the recession?
Recession is just a term for the natural economic process of weeding out the idiots and sharing their money out.
I may regret saying that. Ste. |

Yupp !
Once everybody silly enough to have held their overrated squids on deposit in a " top 5 " U.K. bank gets classified as a prime idiot , to whom are their savings then next shared out : the super - Rich , or...? |

What recession? I was not aware that we were yet in recession either in Spain or the UK.
Personally I shall keep drawing the UK pension which is index linked. The biggest enemy of us with pensions is inflation (3.8%), and whilst most or all pensions are index linked it is usually capped at a rate P.M,( about 3%). Inflation = less available cash= industrial unrest for increased pay, = increased prices = less available cash = less purchasing power = less buying = less manufacturing = less jobs = higher unemployment = less available cash = higher interest rates = higher prices =less available cash = and eventually something breaks ( this time round it seems to be the banks running out of funds, coupled by extreme fuel price hikes) and off we go again. :frown: Significantly reduce tax on fuel could be a good start ( even just remove tax on commercial transport fuel!!) |

Yes, some personal pensions are capped but the state pension is not, as far as I know. It went up 3.9% this year.

Not going to happen tho as there is too much of a vested interest. |

Not going to happen tho as there is too much of a vested interest. So, tell me .... whats going to get the goods from rail head to end point? What would happen to the UK transport industry? How are we going to build all the new rail infrastructure to take the huge influx of all the road freight? I worked in the (international) transport industry most of my life and witnessed the attempt to bring cargo from FXT to Landor Street in Birmingham by rail. It caused massive delays in freight arriving. Containers were having to be sent accross country to come via another route. Its not vested interests, its just impossible. Just like old Two Jags telling us to use public transport forgetting that some of us lived in areas where there were two busses a day, and anyway if we all did jump on public transport it would be a complete disaster as the system couldn't cope with it!! |
