Hot here in Granada, but I'm not sure how hot. The farmacia thermometers give varied readings. The average would be 38ºC, but the internet says less.

Whatever the internet says, it's always a lot hotter here in summer. Mainly because most of the "official" sensors are on or near the coast.

Right now, mine (in the shade) reads 34.5. Internet sites say 29, 30, one reads 28. It's definitely NOT 28,29, or 30...

Thermo readings are very sensitive to position and practically always over rather than under-read. Last year I moved my thermo from the front of the house to the back (both in the shade) and the reading changed by 10 degrees.

That was my first thought. But how bad is it after sunset?

...on second thought, with Oviedo being a goddam garden of eden and all, surely nobody sets foot outside after sundown anyway - to protect themselves from themselves and all the evils that lurk in the darkness, which apparently Oviedo is free of.

It's been 37 or 38C last few days in Madrid. Checked the tablet reading this morning and 22C at 8am. That's when it gets difficult in the capital - later on this month the highs will still be hot, but it'll cool down to 10 or 15 overnight.

Maximum today was 32.4º at 5.30pm. That is from a properly calibrated thermometer in a screened case well clear of the house.

We had a thunderstorm last night at 5am and the temperature increased from 22º to 32º in half an hour and the humidity dropped from 91% to 15% at the same time - really weird!
