UK is broke. We can't afford the Olympics but we are still doing it so that will make us even more broke. I'm glad we lost the World Cup bid and not just because I hate soccer!

I agree that the amounts of money involved in football seem astronomical. But as long as people pay vast amounts of money to either attend games or pay for Sky sport (or buy replica shirts) this will continue. Because of all the marketing and money-making opportunities I'm sure a World Cup could be held in England without costing the taxpayer a penny (and bringing a lot of tourist revenue to boot). Not so sure about the Olympics, but we'll see fairly soon.

Russia is well known to be a haven for racist football fans, time and time again it has been told to clean up its act and time and time again it does what it wants. This choice was based on how much political favour it could garner, trade deals and valuable fuel supplies will have been promised on the back of this, as for Qatar the thought of holding a sporting tournament in 40 plus heat is going to be interesting.... unless they get it switched to a winter fixture.

No, they were the Media whipping dumbarsed Daily Wail and Sun readers into a frenzy. if the FA have decided not to contest another bid I'd say its £15 million quid well saved, they have obviously decided that the money would be better spent elsewhere.

I have come across very few ppl.who were even the least bit concerned that England was not chosen.
However most ppl. are surprised and concerned that it went to a country where racism, hooliganism and corruption are rife and almost a way of life,... all things which the English F.A. has led the World of football in trying to stamp out, and which are supposedly of major concern to FIFA officials.
The FIFA officials have at least exposed themselves even further in regard to what they are really about, for those who weren't yet fully aware.
Similar concerns have also been expressed in a number of other countries regarding how a group of officials as bent as a nine bob note, and seemingly not with the best interests of football at heart, as in the blocking of use of modern technology, which has done so much to bring increased fairness to many other sports, have been allowed to take control of the World football authority.
I would suggest that those posters who are simply obsessed with taking cheap shots, should concentrate their minds on the real facts and the damage that the current FIFA officials are doing to the game in general.

I watched Harry Redknap commenting on the result, and he was quite adamant that some people had been bunged to vote as they did. Harry should know, just like Brian Clough and most of the others, he likes a bung himself.
When you’ve got that sort of money flowing about, especially with people from Africa on the panel, we shouldn’t have bothered with Cameron, Beckham and Prince William arguing our case with fancy videos – all that was required was someone sensible with a few suitcases full of readies for the panel.

There may be rumblings against FIFA but I'm fairly sure no one country is actually going to have the cojones to leave the organisation. Even England (who let's face it, are not going to win anything anytime soon, and so perhaps have least to lose) are not going to walk. Brazil? No. Germany? No. Spain, Italy, France? No chance. I'm afraid we're stuck with FIFA.

But there are, I'm sure, some posters who couldn't give a damn about the game or FIFA

Yet, if England HAD won the option to host the World Cup, all those people here complaining about corruption, the unsuitability of FIFA etc., wouldn't have said a word! Makes you wonder...

Many ppl. throughout the football world have been expressing concern and discontent for a great many years about the dubious way in which FIFA have been controlling the world game, and I have little doubt it will continue to be the case long after the next World cup, or at least as long as the present shower of sh!t is in charge.
Seems it's only recently come to your attention due to the increased widespread media coverage of recent weeks.
