What do Gibraltarian's want?
 

Its been on the news in the UK today David Cameron and the Spanish PM in talks and it was mentioned that David Cameron refused to talk about Gibraltar without them being present.
What do Gibraltarian's want? To remain part of the UK? To become Spanish or to become their own country?
I've been there many times but its hard to tell what standpoint it taken there?

Simple
1st they would like self determination, but Spain denies them this possibility quoting their version of a 300 year old treaty that Spain has broken on numerous occasions and also it would not stand up in any court today.
2nd choice is to remain British this cannot be contested by the 300 year old treaty which ever interpretation you choose
3rd NO WAY DO THEY WANT TO BE SPANISH

A vote was overwheming. I'd have thought a 98.97% against makes it more than clear they want nothing to do with Spain.
I think that is what is doubly galling for the Argies and the Spanish, the Brits in both places are happy to stay as they are, they want nothing to do with those trying to take them over.

Mind you, if Gibraltar became Spanish, her language would join Catalan, Basque etc as an official Spanish language...

A boozy friend of mine once announced he spoke English, Spanish and Gibberish.
