What is the difference

We are hearing a lot about 'Fractional Ownership" in the press and on t'interweb, can anyone tell me the difference between Fractional Ownership and Timeshare, or is it still the Wolf with a fleece on?

I believe that Fractional ownership is owning a percentage of a property with other poeple and timeshare is owning an allocated time in a property or resort owned or overseen by a company .... I think??? Altho timeshare has morphed into many things these days and is nothing like the old fashioned idea of going to the same place at the same time year after year

I cant answer Metalmikes Q but I must ask why anyone would buy a time share , I cant get my head around it at all , I take my hat off to the timeshare sellers for selling the privilege of renting an apartment for several thousand pounds and disguising the rent as maintenance:confused:

Guess it must be for the snob value of `we own an apartment in Spain` .

Timeshare doesnt really exist as it did, there were alot of cowboys who "took advantage" (to say the least!!!), but those guys seem to have moved on now! The way it is now IMO isnt a bad idea for some!

The trouble with it is that they sell it too hard which makes folk suspicious - a bit like double glazing in the UK a few years ago!!!
