Hi Bil I really envy you have a good 2010 I wish I was there, hopefull this year please.
Chulo, as for aiming for perfection, no. I cannot agree with that. I have seen far too many people aiming for perfection. The perfect spouse, the perfect garden, the perfect wedding, the perfect... well, you get the picture. Usually the desperate search for perfection spoils the object of the search because everything will be less than perfect, and the sad thing is that had they just tried for a damn good time, or a relaxed and simple xmas for example, they might well have looked back on it and thought 'That was the best one ever'. Complaining about the heat? Not till the concrete melts. |

Re: What a beautiful day...
Our xmas dinner involved pan fried duck breast + orange sauce with veg, all in all it took less than an hour to do. None of this Nigella/Delia malarky where your Xmas day is laid out with a timetable that stretches from 3 in the morning and your OH gradually going insane from pressure.

"Aim at perfection in everything, though in most things it is unattainable".
Perfection does not exist, its a state of mind. Keeping ones mind happy is important. As for Xmas dinner, I love cooking, so did all the cooking, full turkey with more trimmings than required and then the dishes, I relax in the kitchen far more than sat in front of the TV. Although I was only there from 11am until 2pm, turkey in at 9am. |

In a nutshell perfection and planning, as aimed for with weddings, xmas etc.,costs arms and legs,... yet rarely lives up to expectations,......now spontaneity....,that is the name of the game for a great time.....
Go with that one - when in Spain we plan nowt and take each day as it comes - no pressure, not expensive and enjoy every minute. Not to cold here at the minute, but snowing lightly. Currently scouring th'internet for flights. |

Often woke up not knowing what apartment I was in,....or if in my own place trying to work out who or what I'd just woke up beside,... and praying to God my neighbours hadn't seen what I'd brought home the night before....... Now I still don't have a clue what day of the week it is,....but unfortunately for a different reason.......and the only thing I ever seem to wake up beside, is my trusty,long-suffering,faithful hound........ |

When I lived in the Canaries I never knew what day it was,.....unless I had a flight booked,.....but still even managed to miss a couple of those.
