I can't believe my Vernon with hair. Vernon is the lead singer & the one with the eyes, bless him, I love looking at this, KO KOMO is a brilliant song.

In those day's everything was live in the studio, it was only their 2nd or 3rd TV performance.

I looked at that site earlier Wendy, looks great, some real social history, and as someone who lives and breathes for Ska, Two tone, dance hall and rocksteady, a great debt is owed to guys like Vernon.

If memory serves me right I think that Gary Wilmott the comedian is the son of one of the Southlanders.

You are correct Rosemary, Gary is indeed the son of Harold Wilmot an original member of the southlanders. However Garys father died when Gary was only around 6 years old in 1961, Wendy will correct me if I have the date wrong.

I believe that Wendy & Vernon became almost like surrogate parents to Gary and he is very much in touch with them to this day!:)

Vernon is not only the founder member of the Southlanders but also the only surviving member of the original quartet!

Dee_Dee, you are correct that Harry died when Gary was only 6 years old, & he turned to Vernon for guidance, just like a father.

But there is still another one of the originals alive that is Alan Wilmot who is the half uncle of Gary.

My Vernon formed the Southlanders & was the Lead singer.

At the moment he is touring in "Half a Sixpence" in the UK. He is brilliant, what a star.

Junior (Gary) as we know him, Is doing musicals, & has done for a long time.
