A week is a long time in Politics!
On the 21st January Cameron and the Foreign office said
The Foreign Office told IBTimes UK that there is absolutely no chance of a deployment of ground forces to assist efforts by France and a coalition of troops from African countries.
Today it was announced that 350 are going. Only for training purposes of course They will be there as targets like Afganhistan

Yep, seems very odd that yet again a British PM is keen to commit our troops to combat in a strange land.

Well, 21st December is over a month ago, so plenty of wriggle room for changing his mind!

Maybe the time to start ranting about it is WHEN and IF it happens, ..... though don't let the facts get in the way of a good story.
UK commits troops to Mali but promises NO COMBAT ROLE.
A week may be a long time in Politics, but a day is an even longer time in the minds of some BE members.

No combat role, just targets for bombers and insurgents.

Just like we are back in the UK you mean ?
...or possibly even Spain as well.
Only much more so, if the terrorists are allowed the freedom and scope to develop their organisation and reach.
Surely better to keep them under pressure in their own backyards, which seems to have restricted their activities for quite a while, than have them in ours.
No doubt the bunnies will be the first ones to squeal if they do make a break through and hit innocent women and children on our own streets.

Re: A week is a long time in Politics!
when you think about it, it makes great sense......
they have closed down barracks and entered into discussions about putting EyeEye's in there - subject to massive improvements to meet Human Rights legislation.
(but its good for the lads)
So, sending a two or three centuries out to foreign lands will be one way of ensuring they aren't expected to "hot bunk".
Lets see what they do with the sailors who are now more than there are ships for..........
