finally a time to focus on the one thing the Spanish can actually do well....the weather...swap a + for your - and you wouldn't be far off the temperature it will get to..partly cloudy looking along the coast towards Marbella with a gentle changeable breeze that appears to be coming from the south east at the moment...and this concludes the weather report from the western end of the CDS

When I flew out of the UK last Monday it was Minus 12, Today here I am in Alhama de Murcia, the temperature is 8 degrees and quite a strong breeze (well pretty windy actually ) but compared to Britain it's positively summery... I had breakfast on the terrace...out of the wind.. It's paradise.

Bloody glad I don't live where you do, here in the west I was out doing some early morning photography it was +5ºc and sunny at 8am. A cut and paste for the next few days here. In fact, as a keen photographer, I´d like some frosts, some snow even, it´s not something I get to shoot very often. The lowest temp predicted here next week is 4ºc.

A beautiful day here in inland Andalucia.

I'm sat inside with all the windows and doors open after having lunch out on the terrace, it was too hot for me to sit in the sun for very long.
The nights are going quite cool still at around 3c and a couple of nights down to zero.....but we are quite high up and very close to a mountain at the back of us.

Well I must have become very Spanish because it is bloody cold to me. Even in the sun the wind cuts to the bone. As for night time I have bought a pair of pj´s the first since I was ten years old. Would prefer UK though colder the house at least has central heating. My granddaughter was on skype earlier in a dress with no sleeves whilst I have thick jumpers on in the house.

Never worn pj's either, apart from when I had to borrow some to go into hospital! Sat here now, just a shirt on, nothing on my feet, toasty! I think like you, there's some very cold Brits in Spain tonight, just they aren't as honest as you. I went out this morning early for a couple of hours, came home for some lunch, then my wife and I went out walking again for a few hours. Despite what some would have you believe here, life goes on without wall to wall sunshine, in fact I doubt many spend as much time outdoors as I do, enjoying the surrounding countryside. Bil used to be at the computer all day churning out over 40 posts telling me how brilliant the weather was outside.

Well I'm perishing inside the house, but to some extent it's our own choice as to what house we buy, what insulation/heating etc we retro-fit, how much we research the likely ambient temperature/humidity/wind speed, not to mention altitude.
With that caveat, I'd say the weather is still more pleasant because of the sun. We see it much more, and much more predictably, than in the UK even if every day isn't 42* and toasting sun.
And as has been said, by others too, I for one miss bil so

It's been cold inside the house here too today, unusually we had the air-con running on heat all afternoon.
The sun has been shining and if you could find a spot out of the bitterly cold north east wind it was quite pleasant, but that wind is biting!

At the moment it's the tiled floors that feel the worst, I must get some sheepskin lined slippers for next winter as the cold is coming right through the ones I'm wearing.....but only a few weeks to go and it's going to be much warmer!

I miss Bil too, I wish they would let him come back

We will never understand the Spanish & ViceVersa.
Yesterday because it was freezing inside the house (even wearing thick jumpers) we sat outside, and before long were stripped down to t- shirts in the warm sunshine on our terrace.
Our neighbour comes out all wrapped up in her well padded house-coat and scarf to hang her washing and tells us "we must be mad" I asked her "why? it's much warmer here than in the house" She went back in shaking her head and eventually we were forced back inside by the choking smoke from her chimney

Why do the Spanish people insist on spending the winter freezing in the house and will not consider sitting outside until July? And then do nowt but complain that it's too hot, while we spend our time cooling off inside?

A lot of times I feel colder in the house than outside. This is due to the poor construction of these houses with no insulation at all. You think that the govt tries to conserve energy by introducing solar & yet they allow builders to build such poor quality houses with NO insulation.

The weather in this part of Spain is cold enough to need good insulation houses to conserve energy.
