We CAN vote but who for?
 

We can vote in local and European elections which is great to know. Can anyone give a quick review of the main political parties here - just as a starter guide.

I feel that an elected local representative who has an English speaking secretary would be the best bet.....ideology etc only coming second - unless they're completely out there, of course.

Many of the Costa areas now have local parties set up to represent the ex pats, not just English ones. Round here we have one, and it was started because it was felt that the local politicians were ignoring many of the requests from the Costas because the area was mainly for holiday homes, but that's not true, and the new parties feel that there needs to be a big increase in facilities, police, postmen etc. Best way is to keep an eye on the English press for the area, they certainly feature them regularly.
