I agree in a sense however if Andalucia wants or needs the money the tourists bring in then it's an inevitable consequence.

Careful what you wish for!

Given the dire shortage of affordable long-term residential rentals, I think some regulation to the ever-expanding holiday lets via Airbnb and the like is now overdue.

Owners of these properties will probably disagree but the market has swung too much to holiday lets in many areas whilst renters are struggling to find and afford property in which to live and work locally.

The village we live in has over the last few years seen a large increase in holiday let properties. That said the reason the properties were for sale was due to them being inherited and the type of village type house that they are isn't what most young Spaniards want to live in. So they are bought by non Spaniards or let on holiday basis either by foreign owners or Spaniards.. on top of that the ayuntamiento is trying to increase tourism into the village it's either that or I guess it gradually dies. So what's the answer ? Is there one it's a bit of a catch 22 . Spain actively pushes tourism as it brings in money .

Yes in these places a blanket ban would not work or be good for the local economy - what is needed is a balance to enable all sectors to have access to what they need for their wants.
