Vodafone ADSL down - Altea area

Anyone else lost their Vodafone ADSL?? It's been pretty reliable for the last few months but yesterday afternoon went down. My router has a USB modem which can be used free of charge when the ADSL is down but it's very slow. It's supposed to be 3g but only seems to be working on 2g (about 0.05 mb/s!!)

Our Telefonica router throws a wobbly in the lightening, have you tried unplugging it from the electric for a couple of mins to reset it ?

Yes I have tried that but thanks for the suggestion.

My router (telefonica) was down this morning, which is very unusual and I had to reinstall it from scratch and then some. I suppose it could have been Windows, but I did so many tweaks to get it working again, I don ‘t know which did the trick.

My router is o.k. - the u.s.b. modem works through the router. I am fairly certain that it's a vodafone fault.

In bad weather it could just be that their server is down.

If you call the support number they can tell you this and how long it will take to fix it. Or if the problem isnt at their end then they'll send an engineer out to check your line (well, this is my experience with telefonica anyway)

Out of interest... did you call them to confirm you could use the 3G backup or just use it? They told me when I took the contract out that I had to call them first to ensure there was a problem their end before I could use the 3G without charge

My understanding is that it's free if adsl is not available. The Vodafone website seems to confirm this. It's happened a couple of times before, I didn't ask first and they didn't charge me. Mind you, from my dealings with Vodafone and one of their (franchisee) shops, I think they make it up as they go along!
