Thank you all very much for the views and experiences. Latest is that the Tax people will not budge on the amount and its either pay or appeal. Still no word on any instalments if its the 'pay' option. Let you know.
I am not kicking and screaming, I chose to buy the house at the time, place and price, but I do find it a bit of a pain to get this lot six months later.
