Re: Valencia of yesteryear
Nice Steve, really nice. Love this sort of thing, our walls are covered in old black and white pics.

Benidorm's changed a bit as well. Still had fruit plantations almost down to the Levante beach in 1960 |

These old Los Cristianos shots are brilliant, really well worth a look, CLICK on the FIRST one to get a full size image, then CLICK on through them. Amazing quality for old B&W photos. Note the old straw houses, caves in Guaza mountain, (some waiters living in them when I first moved down there), also I recall the banana plantation right to the beach, a herd of goats used to wander along the prom, a farm just behind with some dairy cows and a military area close by where training exercises were still held.......also a few Spanish warships in the bay, should please Gib.Fred. ;) Las Americas didn't exist, not even a single building, just a gravel beach and a few salt beds. The Swedes first got Los Cris moving with their rehab centre still going strong today. Oh and a great shot of Liz Taylor and Richard Burton in one of the very first hotels. |

Nice pictures there, Dick! We sometimes forget how much has changed over the years.

I love old photos. There is a site with old photos of the CDS. Not just all the changes but how quickly they all seemed to happen.
