Valencia Region - Online Health Appts

For anybody who lives in Valencia region and has access to public healthcare - did you know you can make appointments online?

If not see here

Should save you queueing or getting engaged on the phone.

Maybe equivalent in other regions, worth checking.

It's been available in Andalucia for a some years now. You can even change your doctor online if you have a digital certificate.

They also don't issue prescriptions any more, they encode them onto your health card and you can collect them from any chemist - it also means that for some drugs your prescription is valid for a whole year - no more visits to the doctor just to get a repeat prescription.

In this respect Spain is years ahead of the UK for a change!

I have been using it for ages, only occurred to me today that maybe some people are not aware of this option.

Glad it's useful.

I heard that the presciption option is coming to Valencia also - didn't know it had arrived in Andalucia already. Good stuff.

There was talk of Microsoft setting up a software development centre in the newish Torrevieja hospital (its national health but outsourced to USP private health services) to develop lots more IT based services for medical healthcare admin.

I've been using it for ages too

Firefox doesn't like it - I have to use IE to access it :frown:

our local health centre has even produced info on how to access it in English..... so much easier for all concerned - so many of the elderly in particular don't speak any Spanish & although the receptionists do try, they don't speak a huge amount of English - & let's face it - in my town they'd need German, French, Italian, & I don't know how many other languages !!

Hardly.
I can normally book an appointment by phone and see a doctor approx. one hour later in the UK.
Try that in Spain and see how long it takes.
Likewise repeat prescriptions involve only one very brief phone call and no doctor visits, as has been the case for many years.

"Firefox doesn't like it - I have to use IE to access it"

I always use Firefox (latest version) and never had a problem - maybe you have some firewall or other settings blocking it.

it says the security certificate is out of date - I've added it as an exception, but no joy

I get around it with IE though, so it's not a huge problem

Yes seen those when accessing other sites - when I trust the site I just ignore these and carry on through to the site.

trouble is - the option to ignore doesn't appear - although as I said - I have previously added the site as an exception

I get the same message with IE - but also get the option to ignore - which I do...

You've been away too long!;) All our repeats are done via the internet, have been for a long time. True, you can't get a year's prescription, but not sure that's a great idea. Plus whatever is prescribed is free, there's no list of of free and paid medicines. I have to go into hospital for a day visit exploratory jobbie, they told me they are working weekends for those that want it, would this Sunday be suitable? Put me down for it, see you Sunday.;)

It probably is for chronic conditions such as blood pressure or statins but you only collect one month at a time from the chemist.
